Time and place. 1990's fashions that we thought were hideous are cool again (and not ironically so either). I suspect Joe collectors will embrace most every "stupid" release - even if they put out a few Classified Manimals, for instance.

The only thing collectors have turned their nose up at was the Origins movie figures and some of the cardbacks (the latter could have been a matter of timing in Lady Jaye and Detro's case).

Very simple bro.
They made direct copies of the classic figures and instead of adding their classic weapons they added nerf weapons.

Bf2000 came out with futuristic weapons as they are futuristic, so it?d make sense not only since classifed are copy paste jobs but also fitting for the specific group.

It's all about commitment. We will accept any oddball, off the wall character as long as the design team fully leans into it. Croc Master proved that. Range Viper backed it up.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Crystal Ball, Raptor, Captain Grid Iron, Mega Marines, and others.

Who are the "peg warmers" of your youth, in y'all's experience - and does that impact how much you want to see them in Classified?

My childhood fears of seeing the Van Leunens' toy asile and every cardback was Crystal Ball or Chuckles (with the occasional Sci-Fi) makes me kinda squeamish about both (all three?) of those figures.

Crystal Ball could be pulled off so well in Classified if they play up the occult theme.

Include an actual crystal ball, tarot cards, ouija board, skull, ceremonial dagger etc. Hell, throw in a pet raven or something.

I don't think my kid's mind ever registered "pegwarmers". To me they were "Yay, I can actually get a figure at all!".

Especially with the weeks and months of driving around to every store in the tri-state area trying to find stuff like the 4 Turtles, General Tragg, Slimer, Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Dick Tracy villains The Brow and The Blank, Batman Returns Catwoman, etc.

For many finding a Ninja Force figure was an event to curse their lot in life. For me it was "Oh man, I can FINALLY get a Snake-Eyes/Firefly/Storm Shadow/Zartan/Scarlett/etc."

Only Flint we could afford was Eco Warriors. Only Cutter was DEF (certainly couldn't afford a Whale at a toy show). So I learned to be happy with them.

Probably why they can release any figure in the 82-94 line and I'd lap it up. Hell, give me GI Joe sublines Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, too.
