I'd add build-a-bear to that list too, as far as having a kid-dedicated retail space and curated experience. The littles still get cool stuff, but kids on the whole grow into digital too soon to support the variety of things that we had. Check E Cheese is a poor imitation of its former self. Toy stores are mostly dead, outside of a few upscale educational places and seasonal pop-up-shops. All of the decent arcades are bars now. There's a few inflatable/bounce house places but they cater to the little, little ones too.
When I grew up it was hockey in winter and ball in summer. There was no multi sports during same season outside of playing tag football or stickball etc., at the park with buddies. I see kids nowadays with full schedules of this sport tonight, that course or class/lesson tomorrow. It is go, go, go. All the time. A lot of kids today do not know how to play pick up sports. I was blown away trying to teach 15 year olds touch football; man to man coverage etc. Even, pick up ball at the diamond. Road hockey. Clearing the nets for cars. Drop in basketball or tennis at the local courts. I am Pete Sampras, you are Chang; he is Agassi . . . We would play singles and doubles tourneys made up in our head. No sign up. These were staples for me as a kid and my buddies too. Always a group ready to play something somewhere. We would even carry Joes over into real life hide and seek etc. We were ninjas on recon missions. You cannot catch me! Technology has her purpose but it too came from our imagination and now it is trying to take that very thing. I am busy, you do it, Karen. |

I would honestly be shocked if the Dragonfly or HISS ever hit retail as repaints. The whole point of a HasLab is making something that they could not sell at retail-- moonshot projects. If they could sell a HISS or Dragonfly without a HasLab, they probably would have. If Hasbro breaks that line and produces a cheaper version of what was sold for a premium as a HasLab, I think they would basically be wrecking any chances of future HasLabs being successful.
Right now, I wouldn't plan on anything bigger than the VAMP being made for retail. That might creep up a little in the future (maybe a Snowcat or Cobra Wolf near the $125 or $150 price point?), but I think anything the size of a HISS or Dragonfly is only coming via HasLab or some other special promotion. |

Have any other lines ever produced more than one Haslab per year? It is a niche market however recent vehicles have shown to sellout quickly. Only ask because if Classified has a life of 3-5 more years, does this give enough time to scratch the large scale 6” vehicles surface. There are already 3 or 4 names being thrown around for this years Haslab. Realistically, if all these 3 or 4 are eventually made, that could be end of line . . .
Put another way, if there are 5 more years of Classified, what are the definitive top 5 must have Haslab vehicles? Has there already been a poll on this? More polls!! Moreover, is it likely we see more Exclusive Classified vehicles or around same amount going forward? I still think there is a surprise or two for this year let alone next year . . . I think we see more next year. After all, Lenny is a world builder. If you build it they will come. |

At one time during the great heyday, I worked at a Phar-Mor in the same shopping center as TRU. Every day I walked thru TRU at lunch and sometimes even after the shift, the people in there knew me by name and would even look out for stuff I was collecting at the time and let me know when I walked in about it. On here I was mostly using the KREO codes and the sightings to find all the good stuff. Man do I miss TRU.

Wow did this board have a lot of chatter for a weekend! Did we have any special announcements or something? Usually it's pretty quiet here on those two days, did not expect 20 pages!

I probably missed it, but does anyone have the Amazon link for the Skybound edition y'all are talking about?

I remember trading one of my Lukes, Chewbacca, 2 R2D2s, and a couple obscure cantina bounty hunters for a Cobra Claw, Flint, and Cutter, and I think regular Recondo. Thought it was the best deal ever at the time lol
