Anyway, DS always wins out for me because combining the GBA library (Minish Cap, all the upgraded Final Fantasy games, all the Mario re-releases, Metroid Fusion, the Igavania revival, Wario Ware, etc.) combined with all the amazing DS software (not just the conventional stuff, but the downright WEIRD things that came out - Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, Trauma Center, EBA, and extremely good versions of Civilization and Age of Empires) leads to by far the best library of any system until you get to the Switch. There's a reason the DS sold 150+ million units. Plus, y'know... an R4 chip. After that, SNES, NES, and a Phat PS3, likely in that order. |

The Genesis had some truly awesome games and a bunch of them. They were one of the best systems for shoot 'em ups, side-scrolling fighters and 2D platformers. A lot of really underrated but fantastic games exist for that system! A lot of excellent video game soundtracks for the Genesis/32X/Sega-CD too!

Best system for shoot em ups is actually the TurboDuo.
That thing was built for shooters like how the SNES was almost crafted from the ground up to be the ultimate RPG platform. |

My 2 favorite SNES games were Super Play Action Football and NCAA Basketball. Both games were ahead of their time.

That's certainly true, and I'll be the last person to act surprised that this is the direction being taken, nor will I even go as far as to say that I think that it's the wrong direction.
Personally though, I come from a retro game cartridge collecting background (mostly NES/SNES), and in fact only joined the "modern" gamers with the Switch, because it scratches that itch with all of it's collections and remasters. It sounds as though the next Nintendo console is set to follow suit, but I'm fairly certain the next console generation will be my last. I left physical films and music behind more than a decade ago, but when it comes to print or video games, I'm physical for life. Movies? Keep your digital code; give me the dvd. If I had room, I?d be a vinyl guy. But I don?t, so Apple music it is. I don?t play video games any more (not since EA Sports NHL 90s games), so?not sure what I?d do, there. I cannot even fathom if physical action figures had been replaced during that digital art phase?

Yep, physical print (comics/TPBs) for me, all day, if I?m collecting.

Digital action figures... Now where have I seen that before...

I'm pretty much pro physical everything. The only stuff I'm not is my music (save for film or tv scores) and my video games (I got a few of the Mini systems (NES, 2 SNES and a Genesis Classic), hacked and dumped literally every single game on them. I still use my own original N64 from 1996 though for those games. So I am now playing mostly on non-physical these days.
But I still always prefer real print for books (I have a ton of coffee table type books) and real bluray discs over streaming.

I lost my comics due to some avoidable flooding (long story), and it was so soul-crushing that I haven't so much as read a comic since. I still have shelves lined with novels, though. Heavy focus on Stephen King (and other) first prints. Something about the smell and feel of a book, I just can't imagine replacing them with Kindle and the like.

No, I'd already seen all of them and knew it'd be easy enough to find most of them online if I felt I needed watch any of them again.
