I am still surprised the arcade game never got ported over to SNES.

I still play the arcade game from time to time. Basic, but a lot of fun, especially seeing all the early 90s figure and toy designs in arcade form.

I agree, and I think this is the first time a Joe game has been mentioned here on site that I haven't brought it up or linked a video. It's off-model in many, many ways, but the gameplay was incredibly fun.

Mutant Apocalypse! Got the name wrong there. Another SNES games that the graphics for this sort of also remind me of just a little is Spider-Man & the X-Men (Arcade's Revenge). Even though the gameplay was absolutely unforgiving (only way I could ever beat it was using pro-action replay codes) and the controls sucked and were clunky like metal wheels, the graphics were actually decent (at least the animation was, the character sprites were kind of small in this game) and the music/soundtrack actually kicked major ass (the music is like like prog rock meets funk meets techno meets 70's tv action music and done by one of the original NES' most revered composers, the Follin brothers, Tim & Geoff).

The blocking/parrying focus seems odd. They'll be blocking lasers with their arms?

I really hope it's more Shredders Revenge/Streets of Rage 4.

And absolutely somebody needs to port/remaster and release the arcade game. I killed a ton of quarters in that.
