I need to give Retaliation a whirl at some point. Same goes for Snake Eyes, although I barely have any interest in that one after all the negative reviews I have heard about it.

10 years since Retaliation. Is it really that long ago that we got those figures?!

I don't mind Retaliation, though it feels like an average action film.

RoC had the potential to be a decent Joe film, but it felt that there were too many wrong decisions. Having Tatum and Wayans as the intro characters who along with audience were introduced to GI Joe was fine. Tatum felt more like Falcon and Wayans could have been another character than Ripcord. The whole Duke/Baroness/Doctor back story seems too contrived. The Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow flashback was okay, but why were they kids? I know there is an unwritten law that US action films set in Europe have to have a car chase, but that sequence didn't feel particularly GI Joe. The challenge was also trying not to make GI Joe not be too like Team America.

Retaliation was at least goofy fun. Especially the way Zartan chewed scenes.

Those saying Retaliation feels less like G.I. Joe than Rise of Cobra are on some serious drugs. There is no universe in which that's true. Rise of Cobra is an abjectly stupid movie with no resemblance to anything G.I. Joe.

FFS, the big action climax of the movie hinges on neither the moron director nor any of the 13 screenwriters who shat out the script knowing that ice floats in water! Not a single one of them passed 1st grade science!

Retaliation opens by killing off almost all the characters from the first film so that it can start over fresh. This was the smartest decision it could make.

It's not a great movie. At best I'd call it mediocre. But even mediocre is a massive improvement over the ungodly shitfest that Rise of Cobra was. And it definitely feels more like G.I. Joe. That's not even arguable, IMO.

The Snake Eyes movie backslides and falls somewhere between the other two, unfortunately.

I will hear no slander against Jinx’ banana suit, it was great and may low key be my fav version of her ME figs. No, it ain’t exactly stealthy but it pops gloriously.

Thinking about it, she’s probably the only character I ended up getting every version of. Yellow, red, white, godawful green tiger and all. Where’s mah damn Classified Jinx, Hasbro?
