ROUND 3 SCOREBOARD
COBRA CONFERENCE 125 Night-Viper (4) 154 Eels (1) 29-point differential 129 Torch (11) 147 Battle Armor Cobra Commander (7) 18-point differential JOE CONFERENCE 124 Shockwave (3) 148 Alpine (1) 24-point differential 132 Law & Order (10) 144 Hit & Run (6) 12-point differential Hit & Run vs Law & Order ended up being a little closer than I would have thought and to what the original score was indicating would probably happen. I want to see Law & Order advance, but I don't think that's going to happen now. Torch actually made a little surge over the weekend, but it wasn't enough and it looks like CC is going to advance to Round 4 for the Final Four.

This might have been said already, but it's funny that Torch knocked out armored Cobra Commander last year. Probably because with Buzzer and Ripper out, that makes Torch feel like more of a certainty and driving down his votes.

Hit & Run has minor appearances as part of a squad in a couple Marvel comics. I'm kind of shocked that Hit & Run has made it this far. There must be strong support of the 1988 lineup among forum members as I often forget that the "replacement for the replacement for the replacement of Grunt was even a figure". My money is on either Alpine or the Eels taking it all this year. Based on last year, don't think anyone can stop the Eels even if Alpine is my pick at this point. |

Hit & Run has been pretty popular in my 1988 Best Figure polls, as well.

Not attached to either character, so for me it came down to "interesting looking soldier with a unique loadout" v/s "Unnecessary cop with a dog." Voted HnR, but fully intend to go Alpine in the next round regardless of who comes out ahead in the other bracket.

Think it's going be Alpine and BACC. Alpine is probably coming sooner than later, but feel really good about CC. He is someone Hasbro wants to keep on shelves frequently and if they will not do the iconic hood version, at least (theoretically) we will have the BA version, which was always the coolest IMO.

As to hooded Cobra Commander, I have read someone on these forums postulate before that an online limited version (i.e. a "fan channel exclusive", in Hasbro marketing parlance) is a viable way for them to release him. This would avoid any untowardness that segments of this odd current version of American society may have towards a hooded action figure based on a fictional character. While I agree BACC is much cooler, there is plenty of nostalgia and positive iconography tied up in ole hooded CoCo, such that I and I am certain many others hope that version is also released. |

Based on this, it is interesting that Alpine is where he is at on the board. We already have 2 Bazooka releases and Quick Kick is in the pipeline. Alpine is pretty much a given at this point.
