I like them being experimental. Not every comic artist should look like Neal Adams, even if he's my favourite artist ever. |

I can't get over how great this new packaging looks. What a great solution for windowless packages. The photos of the figures seamlessly integrated into the story - in large, almost full-cover art. Adding Easter eggs for us to pick apart is just a brilliant bonus.
In all of the great things shown today - I think this is my favorite: the new packaging. So unexpected - but so well done. |

This---^^ I can't help but wonder if some of these BG elements, in particular the tube worms from MASS which look like actual figures/toys rather than simply props or something created in photoshop/illustrated, are meant to point to future playsets? Could this be what Emily meant during her discussion with DanWho at the most recent London Con, about the line getting weird??

I love the idea of "special missions" where characters are grouped together by a given theme. Like how Snow job, Arctic BAT's and likely other nameless troops all play in the same 'sandbox'. I hated the idea of a dedicated line that was special missions focused but went as an exclusive to Target (as we all know how that turned out, especially those first pre-orders), but figures that logically go together by theme, specialty, etc. is kinda neat. The "weird" for that to me would be not just figures that could act out MASS Device, but also scenery to go along with it! As to how that scenery would be sold (as backdrops included in/with the packaging or some other way) that's up to Hasbro to decide, but it sure would be nice to have tube worms to go with my (eventual) diver Baroness, Destro and Torpedo figures! |

If you want tube worms, just buy a couple of those snakes in a can from your local gag gift store. Problem solved.

The backs are still fairly similar to the current version or the package, so still no artwork on the back at all. They look like this... and this for the deluxe figures.

I didn't like the idea of the new packaging, but this round has been very impressive. It's a combination of character histories mixed with some of the excitement of the old card art that drew me in before the action figures.
The Valkyries look better each time I see them, too. Are they the female soldiers who aided the Baroness in Worlds Without End and ... whatever the episode was where all the men became comatose? |

I'm loving the homages to Sunbow. It was the Golden Goose that the Hasbro beancounters killed.
