From an accounting perspective, it's interesting that the only area where non-GAAP adjustments were made was for WOTC and digital gaming. It tells me that the losses in the other areas must have been REALLY bad.
Eesh, I go here to escape my work, now I see it staring at me!

"The company will be announcing that they will be converting from in-house to master licenses where other companies will produce toys instead of Hasbro."
Pardon my ignorance, but could somebody please give some examples of this? Is this like how Super7 makes Joes? or ThreeZero makes Transformers? Having a brain-fart... Last edited by Maxwell; 02-17-2023 at 12:55 PM.. |

Eesh, I go here to escape my work, now I see it staring at me! I?m trying to decipher that. It was not on flagship in previous reports and does not appear to have enough revenue to be moved over yet.

As to your comment specifically hoping for an executive to chime in about the impact of a volatile MSRP on sales. This one is bumpy because it's a position almost approaching conspiracy theory in the adult AF hobby, but seems to be a concern mostly from that community. Are parents & gift buyers (80% of all toy sales realistically speaking) picking up a Marvel Legends for a kids birthday party turned off by a $24.99 price that was only recently $19.99, or are they able to filter that price through the realistic understanding that right now pretty much everything is going up in price? Sure 20-25% of Marvel Legends buyers (in other words adult AF buyers) are going to complain up, down and sideways about price as they always ALWAYS do, but most buyers are able to think that through in context and say it's either worth it or it isn't. More than likely the answer is simple. With fewer people overall buying toys post-Pandemic, what you're seeing is a 'right-sizing' in toy sales. Unfortunately Hasbro is caught in an over production glut that ramped up sharply during the Pandemic (I'm guessing because it just makes sense) that couldn't aggressively downsize with less demand... so now you have product sitting, fewer buyers, etc.
I tend to enjoy taking the long game approach. These short term losses and market shake ups are best to be viewed through a long lens as likely this too shall pass. And unlike some I don't look to Hasbro raising its prices as the ultimate reasons for their current troubles. There is likely a lot going on at the big 'H', not least of which their very recent and sudden loss in key directional leadership. They are understandably going through growing pains and perhaps Chris isn't the guy who can steer the ship long term, but we shall see how he pivots. All of that said, again it's best to sit back and just see how it all plays out. Quote:

Any speculation on which brands will be removed from in-house? I sure hope it isn't GIJOE as I have no interest in ReAction figures or 2+ year long pre-orders of 4 figure waves of Ultimates. No interest at all.
Maybe Power Rangers?

I think Classified is probably staying put. I definitely think Power Rangers or stuff like D&D are brands they will stop producing in-house though.

I'm curious if it will translate to another "Modern Era Joe is given to Hiya who can't sell it in the U.S." type thing or if it's just licensing out figures for U.S. sale?. Makes me wonder if Super7 is about to get full 3.75 Joe license, including the ability to make O-rings. |

If Super7 gets the rights to Joe o-rings, my wallet is going to be very unhappy. That's one line I would not be able to resist collecting every single one of.
