lol I'll be sure to remember how evil Disney is while I'm partnering on philanthropic work with them even as we speak. Disney-hating nerds are ridiculous and maybe oughta get off their ass and do some volunteering instead of proclaiming what and who is "evil." They made your toys expensive though so they must be evil! They financed movies you don't like, they're so evil! They stood up against fascism and hate! Evil! Poor wittle babies. All companies beholden to shareholders do some shit none of us should like, but there are literally very few companies that do as much real good in the world as Disney. That's a fact, as is the fact that Disney still releases plenty on home video. Black Panther is coming out on the 7th, IIRC.

i hate the ceos and bigwigs more than i hate the companies these days. like hasbro, all my hatred for it goes to the imbeciles that sit in tall buildings behind desks and make stupid edicts and lay off thousands of people instead of taking some real initiative to improve the company by jumping out of one of those windows up really high.

Yea so many things are the fault of some brain dead exec. These companies are massive and have no way to manage it all, so they layers of execs all making choices and answering to each other. Hasbro is just like all the rest, and each toy line has it's own groups of teams, and then you got teams and execs all pulling in different directions with media, licensing, toys, its just messy with how big these companies are. Hasbro, Disney, etc all are just so big that there is so many points of potential failure.

If only so many of them weren't so focused on licensed IP's. I get that's how you get noticed, but few companies seem to have the 'spirit' to go it completely IP-less. Perhaps some might not call the FourHorsemen "independent" but I sure do and I applaud them for making generic knights and spacemen so enticing! In fact if any company has the potential to be the next Hasbro it's them. They have not only the hutzpah but also the skills to pay the bills. This is not meant as a slight to any smaller companies-- it's a tough landscape and I know this-- but again the future Hassenfeld's are going to be the companies who can either design like crazy and are originals or can hire the best and brightest.

I'd give the nod to BossFight - actual former Hasbro employees to the 4H's former 'ToddToys employees and Mattel contractors' status.

Although Disney recently signed a new licensing agreement with bargain basement distributor Mill Creek Entertainment (the label that cranks out tons of double- and triple-feature collections crammed onto one disc each) to handle some of thier old live-action catalog from the Touchtone and Hollywood Pictures brands, that deal is limited ONLY to reissuing titles that had previously been released on disc already. DVD and Blu-ray sales are in freefall and have been for a long time. Sales numbers for this year are down almost 25% from the same time last year, which was already significantly down from the year before that, which was down from the year before that, etc. |

Yup, and it sucks for those who can't afford D+.
D+ is really going to struggle once the MCU and Mandalorian wears out it's welcome. |
