Reaction to the title: Good! It's all a pain to get!
"One way Hasbro has shifted its strategy to accommodate the highly unpredictable nature of the market is to space out product releases in smaller waves instead of releasing the entire range in one large launch, she says." ...sigh. |

I do not read anything in this article as necessarily applying to high end action figures like Black Series, G.I. Joe, and Legends.
It also seems more tied to how they work with their entertainment releases than something like Classified, which has no media tie-in. We will see. Smaller waves contradicts what Lenny and Emily just told us, but I guess it's possible Hasbro is changing course again.

Does it? I seem to remember them saying the waves would be 5 figures, going forward, back in Yo Joe June.

So smaller waves would be a step backward.

4 to 5 figures per wave seems to be their stratagy for most of their 6" lines, typically, using Power Rangers lightning colletion as an example, they are approaching series 12, and each wave has always consisted of 4 figures per wave, with the occassional versus 2 pack or monster, that hasnt changed since day one.
Marvel seems to seems to be in the 5-6 figures a wave, im not sure how Star Wars black series works, but GI joe seems to be staying in the 3 to 5 range (stalker and Crimson Twins are a 3 figure wave), so not alot of consistancy over all, only Power Rangers and Marvel stay pretty much the same with each release.

I prefer smaller waves spread out. That's how McFarlane does it, and their stuff drops quick. Waiting 6-8 months for product makes interest wane. I end up getting into other lines with stuff out during "droughts".

I figured they'd already done something because I've had no problem seeing all the Classified toys in the wild, but that could also be it's because I'm not buying Classified stuff. You always find the stuff you don't want/aren't looking for. It's the stuff you do want that's guaranteed to be a PITA to find.

Sure, but in my experience, the demand for McFarlane stuff is generally lower than it is for Hasbro's offerings. Smaller waves likely just makes them scalper fodder like most of the Cobra Island stuff, especially when "army builders" are involved (I'm already dreading trying to find a Crimson Guard for retail price). Going to have to pre-order everything to have a chance of picking it up.
