Free advertising and a great marketing gimmick.

I asked Carson "were you aware of the Easy Kill 9 kickstarter when making the selections of submitted characters? Was Cadaver intentionally picked for a crossover?"
He replied "I was not aware of Chad's future kickstarter plans when we made the selections, but I wish him the best in his endeavor! Cadaver was not picked for crossover potential. The Undead Operators universe is full of zombies. The Operation Recall universe will not feature zombies, super powers, or aliens." That makes me feel better in regards to Recall, that they didn't try to sneak anything in on us. I hope the they change him up enough to really set him apart from Easy Kill 9. The fact that this wasn't made known to the Recall team then, and the timing of this kickstarter now just doesn't quite sit right with me. It wouldn't surprise me if Carson starts having to ask submitters about that kind of thing up front from now on. |

For Operation Recall, this is the specific text were asked to include with our submissions:
"By submitting my concepts to Operation: Recall, I knowingly and voluntarily relinquish any claim to compensation for these concepts. If my submission is selected as inspiration for a new figure design by the Operation: Recall team, then I will be notified, and I will receive five signed copies of the manufactured figure. This is the only reward offered and one I will gladly accept." Nothing about that reads particularly as a non-compete to me. Nor does it even read as an exclusive license, really. The more O-rings the better, IMO. I can definitely agree that I'm a little tapped out on the toy budget right now though. I'd still be in for one - probably Bludgeon!

With Cadavers, we're clearly getting a figure that was already designed for another line. Last edited by Ford; 08-11-2022 at 07:35 AM.. |

A guy loves o-ring action figures. He sees a lot of o-ring action figures getting developed, so he starts thinking, "Wow, I wonder if i could make a line of o-ring action figures." In the middle of developing his line of o-ring action figures, a line of o-ring action figures is announced that would be developed and worked on by some of the greatest o-ring figure desginers of all time. He thinks, "Wow! This is amazing! I'd gladly give up some of my designs to be involved in this! I'd gladly sacrifice some figure concepts for the chance to be involved in this awesome project! Besides, I"m no one special. My own kickstarter might not even fund. I'll send them multiple designs!" The Operation Recall team then picks one design from the multiple designs he sent in. "Wow! This is exciting! I'm so glad to be part of that! Watching this operation: recall kickstarter fund has me even more hopeful that maybe I can pull off a kickstarter of my own!" This is a guy, like Carson, who had set up an ambitious project for himself, but gave up some of his designs because game recognize game and he wanted the chance to be part of an even more ambitious project. More power to both of these guys. I wish I had the guts to try to start MY own toy line.

i think supply chain is more of a waste of a spot than cadaver.
i also think cadaver being involved with recall, makes a neat connection between these two lines. not just the idea of part interchangeability (i dont think that's on the table), but story interchangeability. werent some people not sure about recall having a story yet? this already has a story, so, if it's applied to cadaver here, it applies to recall there. what im not sure about, is that cadaver is meant to be a bad guy, is he a bad guy in easy kill 9? are the bad guys the protagonists? He was submitted as a good guy. But the Recall crew saw bad guy potential.
If you really wanted to have a crossover, Easy Kill 9 is a potential future where the evil General won, and the zombies and such are the fallout from his plan. |

For one, Carson announced that up front. And second, Night Raid looks nothing at all like any of the Dime Store Legends. If he had submitted a late 1800's cowboy design, and it was selected, I would have had an issue with it.
With Cadavers, we're clearly getting a figure that was already designed for another line. I personally dig the design and to be honest we don?t know if the Zombie line gets funded. I certainly cannot fault him for tryin. |
