Hi folks, I came to this thread looking for exactly the above answer as well. Figured I'd add some photos for those coming after me about the safest way to pop out the seat without flexing or bending anything. Pictures for removing the seat are thumbnail 2 & 3.

As Jymree points out, remove the turret first, so you have clearance for your hands. If you'd like more space to work, the seat easily detaches from the back of the chair as well (just wiggle it a bit, the tabs will come out).

Next, slide the chair up, and angle it towards the back of the hold, pivoting on the bottom of the tab that holds the back inside the rail. There's just enough clearance to do so (see 2nd thumbnail).

Then, push up from below the chair, using the cantilever you just created and it should come out smoothly (see 3rd thumb nail).

It can be moved forward one spot, or, as the 2 sides are symmetrical, can be inserted on the left side as well. Instead of cantilevering backwards, you'd do so towards you, as there's more clearance towards the exit latch.

Unfortunately, it can't be moved further back, as the last set of supports don't have the prerequisite groove.

For bonus points, I also noticed that the top turret droops forward a bit when the guns are installed and pointing straight ahead. That's because the slot for the tab that holds the turret inside its ring is at the back, exactly opposite the guns. Easy fix (see first thumbnail) - the attachment of the cage to the turret ring is also symmetrical, so unscrewing it and rotating it 180 degrees now ensures the ring is fully secure while the guns are attached and pointing forward (now, they'd droop if you'd point them exactly backwards of course).

Apologies for the lengthy post; I too was rather nervous I'd break some plastic by doing this, so I figured better a few too many details, than too few.
