I've been watching classic Doctor Who lately (goal is to rewatch all of the 4th Doctor), and it's been like 30 years since I've done this (I would watch a couple here and there but no marathon/binge watching).
About half way through the first Season of Tom Baker's Doctor I wondered if they made any figures... In three days I purchased 36 of them. It was fun and expensive all at the same time. In about 3 week's total I'll have them all (some are coming from the UK). It felt so amazing to buy figures again instead of doing preorders which would take months into years to finally have. So by spending as much as I did, I cancelled several Hasbro items. About 3/4 of my preorder list. That also felt great. 😎 This topic just proves how ridiculous the preorders have become. Most of you will complain and still buy. Not me. I'm only getting about 5 figures out of the originally 50 or so that I pre-ordered (That's just Classified, I also cancelled many Star Wars items as well). No more army building. No more Hasbro after I get these few Cobra's that I really want. I'll support better companies than Hasbro who have ZERO RESPECT for their customers and treat them like garbage. |

I will admit that collecting a "living" line is not nearly as much fun as collecting a "dead" one, despite how weird that might sound. When everything is out, the only limit to your collecting is your budget and how patient you want to be on eBay. When you have to wait for stuff to come out, it can be quite frustrating.
MOTUC was like that for me -- I was always backfilling since I came in kind of late (although not as late as some; I could still get Skeletor and He-Man from the evergreen Matty stuff when I started). 3.75" Joes were like that (I didn't start until 2018). Classified and Masterverse collecting isn't as much fun since it's just sitting around waiting for stuff to finally ship.

Do we have a hard statement in when Hasbro is going plastic free (beyond the Viper three-pack)? I currently buy two of each figure minimum but can't see a reason to do so once the plastic window is gone.

There are two more Retro Walmart figures to come out on cards that are unannounced. Otherwise figures will be in plastic-free packaging. So I presume Sgt. Slaughter, the new Snake Eyes, Kamakura, and others will be in the new boxes.

There is going to be a lot of this sentiment. Unless Hasbro designs something where people will still want to keep one un-opened, they are handicapping their own product.

Perhaps? I just don't know how it's going to work. People like to see the product. Maybe Hasbro will start making boxed displays like Lego does? That'd be cool.

Hasbro does have respect for their customers, and trust me they are trying to get product in people's hand's as soon as possible. Hell nothing is really delayed either at the moment anyway (only feels like it because one store got a small quantity of the next wave super early). Hasbro has attempted to make hard to find figures easy to get with their multiple releases of Cobra Island figures either through straight reissues or regular releases. We are really close to being inundated with Spirits, Storm Shadows, Cobra Officers, Python Patrol, Tiger Force, Retro Card Figs, and so much more. This is a great time for Joe and Hasbro is hitting out of the park.
