G.I. Joe Classified Vehicles/Playsets vs. HASLAB 1982/1983, what is possible?
I would love to add all of this to my collection! Classified Vehicles/Playsets - HAL w/ Grand Slam FLAK w/ Rock N' Roll JUMP w/ Flash MMS w/ Hawk (v1) WHIRLWIND w/ Grunt PAC/RAT 3-Pack w/ Short-Fuse & Zap Do you think these vehicles would be Haslabs? COBRA FANG w/ Viper Pilot (v1) VAMP w/ Clutch COBRA STINGER w/ Stinger Driver APC w/ Doc COBRA HISS w/ Hiss Driver WOLVERINE w/ Cover Girl HASLAB - MOBAT w/ Steeler (Motorized) Unlocks - Tier 1: Cobra Commander (v1.5), Cobra (v1.5) & Cobra Officer (v1.5) Tier 2: Non Descript Joes - Army Green Shirt 3-Pack (Sunbow) Tier 3: Cobra Commander (v3, Battle Armor) Tier 4: Cobra Commander (v2, Hooded) Already out - Scarlett Snake Eyes Stalker RAM w/ Breaker It would pretty much complete the original launch of ARAH (minus a few figures and vehicles), thoughts? A super deformed (SD) non-scale F-22 would be cool.

While I'm really hoping the Haslab will be for something enormous, like the MOBAT, H.A.V.O.C., or even Killer W.H.A.L.E., I've had the sinking feeling that's it's going to be something smaller, like the H.I.S.S., or Rattler, for a while. If they went smaller than that, as in the F.A.N.G., or A.W.E. Striker, I'd legit be mad.
We've gotten exactly TWO small vehicles, in the two years since this line has been selling, & they're both motorcycles. How have we not gotten a Polar Battle Bear, Flight Pod, C.L.A.W., Armadillo, Ferret, or even S.N.A.K.E.? Mattel just put out a jet for "Lightyear," that appears to fit Classified & Black Series figures, for $44.99, & that includes a 5" Buzz. It boggles my mind, as someone who desperately wants vehicles for Classified, that we've gotten so little, & that Haslab is what we have to look forward to, in that regard. Emily, if your eyes fall upon this thread, please keep the smaller vehicles out of Haslab, save that for the bigguns. |

I think we should be realistic about this. Arguably Hasbro's biggest line, Star Wars, did not see success with their 6" scale's big vehicle offering. The Imperial Speeder Bike with Biker Scout seemed to do well, but the First Order TIE Fighter languished in stores and eventually got clearanced down to $30-$40. That's not good.
Hasbro has only released a couple more SW vehicles in the 6" scale since that in the last 7 yrs -- Luke's Landspeeder in 2017 and the Rebel Snowspeeder in 2020, both of which sold a lot better but are also fairly small. It seems like bigger or even medium-sized vehicles are sort of in the rearview mirror now. SW 6" fans have been begging for a 6" X-Wing for 9 years now, but I'm not sure it will ever happen with how bad the TIE Fighter performed. I definitely think the next Joe vehicle, if it is a HasLab project, will be something smallish/smedium in size like the Fang, the A.W.E. Striker, the Triple-T, Serpentor's Air Chariot or possibly the VAMP or Stinger. Maybe thr H.I.S.S.. But I just don't ever see them doing stuff bigger than that going off of what happened with the Black Series' vehicle offerings. The reality is the 6" scale is just a little too big and pricey for medium to large vehicles for its own good. Most collectors are sort of reluctant to pay those high prices and most people just don't have the space that is needed for those bigger vehicles, either.

I think H.I.S.S. or VAMP are the front-runners in terms of recognition and size. As said above I don't see Hasbro going bigger than those. Not at the 6" scale. The details, like working treads on the H.I.S.S., are what can make these stand out.
At the 3.75" scale I'd love a completely retooled and improved definitive Rattler to counter the definitive Skystriker. It feels... necessary. |

You could not apply the requirements of that Lightyear release to a GI Joe release because fans and collectors, ESPECIALLY collectors, have a higher slate of demands Hasbro is supposed to fulfill. Quote:
The problem is making a 6? vehicle to the level of detail collectors demand without being able to leverage a major marketing angle to pad out the production numbers. Mattel was able to make a Batmobile for $20-25 because all they had to do was make an empty chassis with a hole to fit a figure, 4 rolling wheels and cheap projectile launcher. They didn?t need to paint much (if any) details, they didn?t need to adhere to scale, they didn?t need much (if any) cockpit details, they don?t even need to adhere to the vehicles? fundamental design concepts (ie, an opening roof instead of doors in Spinmaster?s Batman vehicles). Those sorts of compromises WILL NOT fly for Classified fans.
