I'm thinking about lines like Eagle Force, which is clearly designed to mix in with the ME sculpts from Hasbro. If we're switching back to O-ring, how do you think lines like this will fare?

I don't think it'll hurt it all. Eagle Force and the other 1/18 lines really became big after ME was off the shelves for the most part. Honestly, Eagle Force has less competition non than before. I will say that Skeletron is looking pretty genius for doing both ME and O-Ring style figures

Yeah, many of these lines are a substitute for modern style 1:18 figures, because Hasbro just isn't producing that much. Even before now, ME was barely there. MTF and Eagle Force are companion in lines in that they're picking up the slack, but they're designed very much as an alternative, as well.
If anything, the lack of ME Hasbro product will actually help these companies.

Yeah I think Hasbro has realized that unfortunately there's not a lot of demand for ME figures from them. The people that are willing to spend $15-$17 on a ME figure are the same people that probably own a ton of ME already. You're not capturing new customers with ME. O-Ring at least has the advantage of looking like the vintage toys (something Origins has over Masterverse), while also being something that hasn't been offered in close to 2 decades and substantial upgrades can be made to the figures (which isn't really the case for ME).

And this also carries on the ME vs O-ring like they're two different things, but they're not really. ME is the substantial upgrade to 0-ring, and I think Stalker and Grunt proved there's still room to improve ME figures. I mean, the TVC figures are pretty damn impressive lately. And that sentiment is coupled with the fact that I don't expect o-ring to be much improved from re-releases and aesthetic copycats of some new characters (maybe). There's no evolution on deck, I suspect.

I honestly wish that hasbro would revive me stuff. By todays standards the oring stuff looks bad and is seriously lacking proper articulation. The retro stuff looks and feels cheap by comparison plus they want 13 bucks for a cheaply made corps looking figure.

You're also coming off like there's no loss in moving from O-ring to ME. It's still a trade off. Layers of plastic that restrict movement, bulky gear for the sake of detail, stuck joints, strange issues like the hips on my HISS driver, and an incompatibility with vehicle seats are just a few. |

Has Hasbro stated they are "killing" ME? I haven't read anything that states they are doing so.

Yeah everyone here is assuming ME is dead. It's just not being carried by Walmart. The molds are out there so Hasbro might still do releases for Modern Era in some fashion. Best to assume it's more of a hiatus than the death of ME.

Someone will always step in to fill the void. If anything, I hope more companies throw their hat in the modern 1:18 scale ring.
