I've just discovered it's impossible to get the grenade-launchers that come with 07 Gung-Ho into either of his hands, spent 30min last night until I was exhausted from trying to pry it in but other guns work fine

Difficult, but not impossible. I've currently got my Gung Ho set up with the grenade launcher in his hands.
