Bottom line is that two people who should be in the know (especially one of them) have made claims that it isn't happening and Hasbro has been silent.

It's weird, because Flynn states people love Cobra Commander, but do you want to associate him with the clan, yet he also mentions Darth Vader and Stormtroopers and George Lucas has stated numerous times that he based the Empire on Nazi Germany and even the Stormtrooper name is what they called their original paramilitary force, before the SS took over.

There are solid cases of every figure, but normally those are only sent to webstores, not retail. So it is possible one Target got a case of 6 Gung Ho figures by mistake its not likely. Especially since the 6x Gung Ho case would have come out when he was a new figure and not now when he's being repacked with vipers/bats.

Yeah but by RotJ Lucas was mentioning that the Empire was in fact based on the U.S., with the Emperor based on Nixon and the cuddly Ewoks based on the Vietcong. Which would tell me the Stormtroopers were then supposed to be U.S. Soldiers?

Lucas likes to flop back and forth on things.

But then how the hell did the one Target I went to in Philly a few months ago have well over 20 Gung Hos on the pegs?

Then again, I've also seen the Redeco Scarlett and Roadblock in a Target store a few times in the past six months.

I had typed out a long post on this very subject, but decided against posting it. Thanks for saying it succinctly. The Nazi Germany = Empire was something some EU writers expanded on and went wild with. I was very glad when it was it all scrapped.

I still hated the crap of "The Emperor hated women and aliens" that the EU added.

One good thing the Disney stuff has done is add better female and alien bad guys to the Empire.

I remember when the EU literally explained away Admiral Daala suddenly being an idiot post her own trilogy, because she tripped and fell on the Death Star and banged her head on a wall, giving her brain damage. Bad enough she and Leonia Tavira and Ysanne Isard, the only other female Imps, got to where they were purely by being fuck toys.

Now that I think about it, I remember one of the books or guides implying the Emperor was banging Mara Jade, too. Ugh.
