The tape they use on the boxes is not the same width that you can get at normal retail stores (target/walmart/office depot/staples, whatever) so its pretty easy to tell if something is re-sealed with tape. Also, if that becomes a problem they'll just do what Lego does and switch from "normal" tape to little sticky seals instead (basically a clear sticker with printing on it that they use instead of tape) so people will know if something's been opened and re-sealed.

I doubt collectors will stop buying. Just seems contrary to their (our) nature. It might just be statements in an effort to dissuade the inevitable change.

I do see stores changing the way sales are done if and when theft becomes more of a problem.

Collectables might become like how TRU did video games. The only thing on the shelf was a ticket. Or how Target does PS5 supposedly.

Then no refunds but you can exchange for the same item if your original purchase was defective.

This entire discussion reminds me of a poor Vance Astro at a Walgreens in Tallahassee Florida.

Someone took the shield and the figure was on the peg for at least three years.

Probably still hanging there to this day unless that store decimated their toy section like select Walgreens have.

My two PP BATs that I got from the UK were resealed on the bottom with "factory" tape.

Nothing was missing or damaged. I really don't like how gooey most of the Hasbro tape is. I try to keep the boxes minty and still remove the tape.

I wish the seals were more like the Jazware round disks.

But, yes, if Hasbro used individual disks and not a giant spool of tape. Increased cost.

Scissors work great for replicating tape width. See it all the time with Mattel Elites repacked with Basics or Jakks figures.

Over the years I've noticed a lot of toys from multiple different manufacturers that were obviously sealed, opened & then retaped. There will be two layers of tape, with the first cut clean through & the second layer intact. I think it must be somewhat common for a production run to be sealed missing something, and having to be opened to insert whatever was missing and then sealed again.

Do you mean you think it's common for a toy to be sealed, then reopened at the factory to drop in a missed accessory?

Seems like it. I don't know about now, but back when I was buying a lot of toys, I saw a lot of that. Rarely was anything missing or obviously tampered with inside the box, which made me think they had to reopen the box at the factory for some reason.

I like him and dont mind the lack of cloth.

But I do feel his coloring is off and he doesnt have enough camo splattered on him... especially on the face. And his face shouldnt have tiger camo, it should be smudged all over like the original

I don't like his camo, goggles, helmet, face paint, and face sculpt. Someone said that he looks like Tom Brady, and I kind of agree.

Not liking soft goods on action figures (at all), I probably would have passed on Dusty if they had gone with cloth around the helmet.

I think he's fine. I'm not sure what detractors expected. It's a recognizable Dusty with decent accessories.
