If us as consumers are letting the retro cardbacks languish on the shelves, and later this year we see loads of Outbacks and Marauders' Barbecue on the shelves, that may not be a good sign for holiday releases (or a great sign if you don't want them). But as far as I can tell, the Star Wars releases are "builders," which makes it easier to compel consumers to buy more (or really popular characters like Boba Fett).
Strictly anecdotally, but the Python Patrol BAT doesn't seem to be moving the numbers we might otherwise expect (but the Viper is harder to find). That could perhaps be a part of Hasbro evaluating future speciality releases, like a Kwanzaa BAT or somesuch. |

Look at the game companies deciding now that $69.99 is a good price for newer games coming out simply because there hasn't been a price hike in a decade and thus they "need" to.

After seeing how overpriced and lackluster the Ghost Rider Haslab was, I really am not looking forward to the next Classified Haslab. With Hasbro's price gauging and the level of inflation we are seeing today, It's unlikely that the next one will be worth it. I didn't think the HISS was worth it, but you gotta have it |

I really wish people would stop using the term "price gouging". You can't 'gouge' someone on an item that is 100% discretionary. Nobody 'needs' action figures. Hasbro is in the business of making and selling toys. If they determine that we will pay X amount for something - that's their prerogative. Buy it or not - that's up to us.

The APC does make a great piece if you have room for a large dio, though.

(Not saying I love game pricing, but that's just simply a whole other can of worms I don't think we can fairly compare to figures.) Quote:

Discretionary spending seems a sensible criterion, but it's not really relevant. Look at Ticketmaster and Taylor Swift tickets (or whomever of many other artists right now whose fans are seeing wild fluctuation of prices from formal outlets). So either we disagree that you paying $200 for a single ticket and my paying $800 for a single ticket in the same section and row is "price gouging," or we agree that it is, and therefore concede that discretionary spending is relevant.

For the record, if Hasbro wants to make a blue and white Hanukkah BAT I'd be down (for gifts for all my Jewish friends' kids if nothing else)
If anything I was amazed that they managed to hold the line for so long on game prices, given that development budgets EXPLODED for AAA-level titles over the past ten years. I think the leap to HD was bigger percentage-wise, but the PS4/5 era of development has seen costs spiral yet again. EA can fuck right off, charging 70 for their bullshit asset flip sports titles though. |

I don't love the increase of course, but I always wondered how long $60 was going to be sustainable for video games. After all, Super Mario Bros 3 retailed at $50 when it was released more than 30 years ago, and games have been around $60 since the SNES.
