It really does. New Gung-Ho just looks more like his ARAH version in every way. I cancelled my Action Force Declassified set because I'm going to repurpose my current Gung-Ho with the Marvel Legends Reaver Head. No need to try to convert Gung-Ho to his original look now that the Retro one has us covered.

So, I was expecting more from yesterday's event, as well, but with their explanation at the beginning, I'm fine with what we got. I'd prepared for a good hour-to-hour-&-a-half event, with preorders to have to scramble around on multiple devices to secure, at 1p.m., so it was a bit of a surprise that they only went 18 minutes, but without the actual products/marketing shots, I get it. Also, I'll admit to being relieved that i didn't HAVE to preorder anything yesterday, that would then be on the books for half-a-year lol Their being up-front about everything is much-appreciated. The situation sucks for everyone.

As for the renders/reveals themselves, while I understand not liking that they decided to go with a certain character(s), I can't relate to passing judgement on the renders. They ARE going to change, & even if those exact renders are used, the physical sculpt will look different. From a macro standpoint, I love the basic designs we got in this event, & the fact that we're finally getting Tomax, Xamot, Stalker, & a teal w/head seemingly redesigned Gung-Ho. I'm less enthusiastic about the Viper 3-pack, though that officer does look cool. I got all the Vipers I wanted, back when I learned my lesson on paying a premium in the secondary market, a year ago, but I'm glad more will be available, along with a new figure, for anyone still trying to troop-build them. I honestly don't care about their bare arms not showing. While I'm glad that Hasbro/the GIJ team made the decision to slant more towards the ARAH designs, when they did, I don't need slavish recreations from the 80s. I appreciate the tweaked/updated versions of ARAH designs we're getting, & looking forward to so much more.

Sounds like we'll have the full reveal of all those figures, possibly a few more, in just around a month. THAT will be the time to really go in on the actual design choices. I do understand, it's been a minute since the last full reveals, & most of us still haven't seen hide-nor-hair of the preorders from those reveals, so we're all craving MORE, but we have to accept what's going on. I'm not saying no one's entitled to go in on these designs, that's all Emily & Lenny had, so that's all there is for a month. I'm just suggesting taking a wider look, until the actual figures, with multiple shots in dioramas, with accessories, & in-package, are presented.

As for the possibility of eco-friendly packaging, I couldn't care less if that's the way they go. While the figures look nice in the packaging that's been used, so far, I'm no longer collecting any line to keep in-packaging. I'm also not shopping for toys in-store, anymore, so seeing a figure in the wild, first, is no longer a necessity for me. The more a mass-market product can be made more environmentally beneficial, I'm all for it.

Entertainment Earth now also has a late fall date for the Storm Shadow wave. Something seems to have happened recently, which would explain the Gamestop and EE date change, and the weird opening to the Fan Friday event.

I'll believe there's a much larger delay if Pulse moves those dates back - that wave is currently slated for a 1 July ship date. They're good about updating if products are delayed (I rec'd emails for both the Fortnite Snake Eyes and the Mego 2-pack), and would consider them all pretty authoritative. Since this wave seems to be both showing up stateside and being delayed, I'd defer to widespread availability well before late Q3.

So that begs the question, if the Spirit wave has been shifted that far when can we reasonably expect anything that is shown this year?

Yes, it does raise some uncomfortable questions. It also clashes with what other Hasbro teams said in a media-only event late last year: that many of the July dates should be closer to April and they had built in padding.

I would be shocked if we basically got no Classified figures this year (which is what a late fall date for the only announced wave would mean) so I hope this all sorts itself out or this is two retailers expecting two different shipments.

Still, combined with the very strange PR message on Friday, I am not as sanguine about 2022 as I was in late 2021 (when the BATs started appearing early and Gamestop moved up its Storm Shadow dates to February).

It's interesting because we know the Spirit wave is manufactured. Hasbro probably just doesn't want to pay to speed up the shipping process again like they did for the Christmas rush.
