It's clear they have a commitment to the brand again, they are putting their new big budget video game studio to work first on a GI Joe video game as the first product which is a pretty big deal. Classified is doing very well it seems, Skystriker haslab kicked butt, and product licensing is going strong now.
Snake Eyes was a blunder for sure, but they have a new animated series apparently also coming and if the other live media projects are still in the works, they are gonna keep pushing the brand. As long as the toys are selling, the brand will go on. |

Personally, I don't think Snake Eyes was that large of blunder. Movies outside of established blockbuster franchises aren't doing well and Snake Eyes came out right when delta paranoia was strongest. Also didn't help that Marvel had a martial arts film coming out rather close to it. I think it really could've found an audience if it had been sold to Netflix because while not great, it's better than alot of their original action films.

They didn't spend a fortune on the movie nor did they promote it heavily, it only got like two months of Marketing unlike other big Hollywood films delayed by Covid, which had 1+ years worth of marketing wasted on continued delays, running ads over and over again. SE got no marketing till the last minute which doesn't help, but also means they didn't spend a ton of pushing the film either. With all said and done it's not going to be a huge loss, but at least we can hope if they do plan to keep the live action going, that they take the critique to heart and course correct future productions. |
