Also, from what I understand Hasbro owns all G.I. Joe media they've licensed out. That's how we got the 'Classic' and 'Disavowed' books through IDW. |

I didn't really care until someone decided to turn Tim Drake gay, because he apparently was going through a phase of figuring things out when he was dating Spoiler for, like, 20 years of his existence. And it's the type of decision that DC is NEVER going to back away from, which means that we're stuck with it now.
But characters where we don't know anything much about their personal life, like about 90% of the Joe cast? No big deal. Also Tim and Steph have not been together for 20 years why, because DC has done numerous reboots and retcons so counting from The New 52, which is still canon, those two have only been together for maybe 3 years at best and no DC referencing their relationship in a past continuity doesn't count that's just something for the old fans to enjoy. And in all honesty I never much cared for their relationship because it just seemed like they just put those two together just to keep the character revelant, I mean think about it in order to keep her around they've changed her identity twice too more established character; Robin and Batgirl. Oh my God, comics have alway been PC, hell if the internet was around when Captain America first appeared people would be complaining about not wanting politics in their comics when he punches Hitler on the cover and the time PC has lost all meaning in comics because whenever I writer does something new with the character and suddenly gets labeled PC, woke, or SJW. And to clarify DC and Marvel have introduced gay, bisexual, and transgender characters into their comics and they always get accused of "shoving it in the reader's face" Last edited by Megastar; 12-05-2021 at 08:46 AM.. |

For the record, I don?t believe Cap punching Hitler was a political message in its day. It wasn?t an unpopular, politicized conflict like we have today. We were brought into the war as a country and the vast majority were on board and every able bodied man went off to fight. Support from home was widespread. It was a unifying event for this country.
Hitler was a true bad guy to Americans and the book was published only for Americans at the time.

Er...so anyways, IDW is probably going to lose GI Joe. That's crazy, huh?

I have no interest in the overall argument in this thread, but I wanted to point out an inaccuracy when I see it. The famous Cap/Hitler cover was released before US was at war. Prior to Pearl Harbor, there was indeed division as to whether the US should enter the war or not. Captain America comics was obviously made by individuals who were for going to war, but there were definitely people on the other side of the fence at that time. In fact Joe Simon, Jack Kirby, and Timely Comics all received threats of harm over the cover, prompting a need for extra protection.
I?ll stand by my original statement that it wasn?t a political take. |

Ok, I may be inaccurate about the timing. But regardless Hitler was despised despot. I?m pretty sure no one in this country was ?pro-Hitler?. They may have felt it wasn?t our war pre-Pearl Harbor but that is a different argument.
I?ll stand by my original statement that it wasn?t a political take.

For all we know, Marvel could already have an agreement in place to take the license back home and we could see Larry publish issue #300 on Marvel where it all began, and everyone's happy. Right?
