I mean, I loved the early IDW run. The Gage and Costa Cobra Minis? Top shelf. The first twenty or so issues of Dixon?s run. Pretty great. Some of the Special Missions and Origins were cool. The last almost ten years have been atrocious. What a shame, but they definitely don?t deserve the license anymore.
I hope Marvel doesn?t get it. That company is a dumpster fire. Maybe a new comic will have to wait until Paramount can get its crap together and give us a decent tv series that generates interest in the Joes. |

If it has to get rebooted, that's fine, but the last thing we need is another Snake Eye/Storm Shadow origin. That is a story that does not need to be retold anymore.

I agree with ?no Marvel? and no one is likely to pay good money for this unless part of package deal with Transformers.
In my opinion, the best possible scenario would a be a smaller company with something to prove getting their hands on the title. Someone for whom having Joe would be a ?big whale? instead of a ?little fish.? I don?t really care what they do as long as they do it well and honor the source material. I felt like Devils Due operated like that a first. |

Idk....Marvel getting G.I. Joe and "possibly" Transformers some time would give them another major player(s) to add to their Marvel heroes and Star Wars. I would love for Marvel to get it back, and keep Hama.

Well I wouldn't be heart broken if IDW loses it. If it goes somewhere else and they don't bring Hama that's not a deal breaker, hes not the Hama of the 80's. Over the last 10 years his stories have been rather pointless, let him retire and keep some dignity. Most of the original 155 were great if I want to live in the past I can reread them, still more entertaining then what he's currently doing.

Ah this is too bad to hear..while I agree with the ARAH vets on the forum about the IDW run being flawed and bogged down, I am currently catching up on the TPB's and am having a fun time with them. Both the Image/Devils Due and the IDW run have been less than perfect IMO but I enjoy Hama's storytelling a lot.
I am sure another publisher will take up the GI Joe name if the license is indeed up at IDW. This would also be a poignant time for Larry to retire or at the very least keep a purely advisory role..I dunno, we'll have to see. Not really sure what publisher would be ideal..maybe First Second or Darkhorse? |

The article predicts Summer of 2022,but based on the most recent solicitation, I'm thinking the end of 2022.
The most recent February solicitation for ARAH is for #291 and is advertised as: "kicks off the Road to Issue #300!" A monthly would have #300 landing in November.

If they had Larry bring back Snake Eyes for the final story, then wrap it all up with 300 being the end point I think I’d be content with that, then whoever comes next can do whatever they want with it either way. I’d hope if they ‘are’ losing the license then there’s at least enough time left to wrap up all the loose ends.
