I enjoyed Dixon's early run (I'm a huge fan of his "Robin" run and have met him once), but if something he said once is true, IDW didn't know what they were doing. Allegedly, while Dixon had gotten some flak for his sci-fi stuff at one point he wanted to use the Rattler's VTOL abilities and was told it was too "farfetched". So, either IDW just wanted him off the book and wanted to make him rage quit or they didn't know their franchise. Either way, bad form.

With how it sells, would anyone really want GI Joe comics? Unless they get a package deal with other Hasbro licenses, I can't see it being worth it for most companies. A larger company like Marvel could potentially get it out to bigger distribution, but I highly doubt Marvel wants to touch GI Joe and such with a 10 ft pole especially with them having too many books and farming out their other lines to other publishers.
No one is going to pick this up to pay a licensing fee just to put out a book that struggles to sell 9k floppies a month. Hama would be done essentially, and if they did do GI Joe, it would no doubt be a total reboot. Quote:
If Transformers is also going, I imagine they are losing their entire Hasbro license potentially. So is someone else actually picking it up? We won't know for a bit possibly unless it gets released like DH did with it's Star wars announcement. Last edited by PanzerKrake; 11-29-2021 at 09:25 PM.. |

It would be cool if they did and did it well. None of the cartoony stuff like other comics do. Maybe some good art like Atkins did and they would be good to go. However, if the comic didnt come back after IDW was done with it I am not sure it would be that big of deal. Not the end of the world.

About time. I was as die hard Hama fan as they come, but he ran even me off. Think I’d rather him just stop now, not even “finish” wrecking the property. I don’t even consider his IDW run canon anymore.

I like IDW as a company just fine, but what I really care about is Larry getting to write as long as he wants.
I do favor the idea of other creators doing their own versions, or resuming Sunbow, but Larry is my bottom line. Don’t bring back the 80s figures only to kill the 80s comic! |

Would anyone be open to an 'Ultimate Universe' take on GIJoe? Reboot the whole thing - call it GIJoe: Classified - and re-tell stories from the beginning. Use Larry as the inspiration and give him creator credit or something. Mix things up slightly - keep us on our toes again as we watch things play out.

I have a killer pitch in mind that would sell copies and make fans very happy. It is something fresh that we’ve never seen before but would still appeal to longtime fans.
New company, contact me. I’ll make you lots of money and make your fan base ecstatic. |

But the cost of entry for me is letting Larry do his thing. Do that, and I?ll be pumped about whatever else you do. But if they throw him overboard, I?ll plan on ignoring everything they do. |
