Honestly given that hasbro is wanting to essentially neuter the whole guns thing Isay just leave the comics in the dust. Watered down comics are not something I wanna read.

Yeah, that might make sense from a "main stream corporate sized juggernaut" sense, but Disney bought Mavel comics to OWN the IP. I don't want Disney ANYWHERE near G.I. Joe. Their track record with the Star Wars franchise is all one needs to see. Hasbro does'nt need to give the Mouse a single crumb.

I've heard Skybound rumored as well, and someone like Kirkman who probably has personal history and love with the IP "Being an 80's kid", is what would probably be best for the G.I. Joe comic or media going forward.

If I were to bet, I would put my money on Marvel. They had the original license, like they did with Star Wars which they have again (I know the circumstances/ownership are different this time), they have the most resources, they were one of the biggest license publishers back in the early 80s and are in a bit of a licensing push now (Aliens, Predator, and Ultraman).

Yet every GI Joe toy now comes with real world guns again. And every film adaptation of Hasbro properties seems to have real guns in them too even when rated PG-13.... yea this sounds like a whole lotta nothing

The issue there was QUALITY. When IDW started their own stuff, it was deliberate and good... then got into drastic changes (Cobra Commander being a succession, weird ships like Scarlett and Mainframe, Snake-Eyes working for Cobra without a payoff), and then poor decisions (Aubrey...)

If you had two quality products, a modern take and Hama's (if you wanna call that quality), people will buy.

I'd love for Hama to be still on board - but for the series to be rebooted Marvel Ultimate Universe style. Call the new series GIJoe: Classified. Have another writer 'script' the issues - based on the classic run, with Larry's input as 'creator'.

I would love to see a new interpretation of classic story arcs. Done with modern artwork, tweaked / course corrected plotpoints, and so on.

I do find it weird that they didn't take the opportunity to announce who the next publisher is. Is it Skybound or another publisher?

Eh the Ultimate universe was not really all that great, still I see where you are coming from.
