One of the biggest drawbacks of the thing. You have to sacrifice the full tank for the display stand. They could have figured that out better.

Yeah. I was going to put the tank on and then decided I wanted the Phoenix missiles instead and found the extra weapons pylon works well enough.

Sorry to zombieze an old thread but when I was a kid back in 1983 on the box of the Skystriker. I thought that the character pictured was Airborne. Of course Airborne’s file name was Franklin Talltree.

It just reminds me of the initial stream for this thing when they teased a potential future adversary for this thing. And then crickets.

Lenny (I believe that’s his name) is being selfish with the classified line. All resources are going there. Honestly, they can’t make up that much of the market. Orings have proven they can sell just as well. It makes me think this personal. He wants to work on his new pet project and doesn’t care that a large portion of the franchise’s market share are ignored. A haslab rattler or night raven would sell extremely well. Making figures like firefly and snake eyes v2 would be a license to print money. This is obtuse thinking by Kenny and/or hasbro and imo it’s why they’re failing financially.

Some of that stuff could still come on the next big anniversary, which is just around the corner. Like Star Wars OT product, anniversaries are now the best hope.

It sounds counter-intuitive, but O-Ring is a risk (much as it pains me to admit). I think it's a risk that makes sense for a few reasons (MOTU Origins is kicking all kinds of ass showing there's a market for nostalgia dollars, line extensions are a market-proven way to improve sales of *all* lines within a given brand, Target selling through ReAction shows there is a market for smaller carded GI Joes), I don't work for Hasbro, so the biggest say I have is right here - which is to say none at all, really. If you have a limited budget (or a smaller budget than last year, which, given Hasbro's fiscal 2022, is a very real possibility), you want to allocate those resources in the most sensible way possible. The fan in me says "O-RINGS WILL WORK!!" but the corporate knowledge I have says that O-Ring is unknown risk, Classified is a proven seller. If you want to be conservative with your spending, don't take unknown risks right now. Big ol' bummer.

If we don't know people, it's hard to attribute motive. Even if I'm one of the more awful vocal people about both the death of O-Ring and disappointment in the follow-up from 2022, we're *really* assuming if we say one person or group of people is being deliberately selfish. Corporate strategic guidance for Hasbro this year says "play it safe, play the hits." They know Classified sells, so it's easy for them to be risk-averse and stick to what they're certain works.

I get the whole business thing, but I would think if nostalgia can drive the MOTU Orgins, Classified, and the reaction line, I would think that O-Ring could/should/would do well. But smaller lines / less risk is a thing you have to do sometimes. I would be insanely interested to see what was discussed in the study in regards to O-Rings, but I wasn't picked so guess I'll have to see in the future! I def don't think that O-Ring is getting the next Haslab :( |
