I bought two and checking the one I'm assembling and the spare, all my figs and cards look great. There was a little bit of marking on one of my Cocos, but not a big deal as this will be an opener.
Very happy so far with the quality.

Yeah, changing the plastic was intentional. Lenny said that the feedback they got from the community was that they wanted the more brittle ABS plastic that the original Joes addressed, cause fans were worried about broken thumbs and crotches, and cracked elbows... so the use of softer plastic, which I believe resulted in a more matte finish, was in the attempt to address the fragility issues that the fans raised. So I can'r really fault the Joe team for that, as they were doing what they believed the fans wanted. I think it is a toss up between having the shiny ABS plastic like the old ones, and dealing with the fragility issues, or using the softer plastic they're using now to avoid breaking thumbs and crotches, but having the figures a bit more matte. I'm not sure there's a right or wrong answer, as it's just personal preference. I do love the look of the original glossy figures, and I was initially concerned about the more matte waxy look of the newer figures in the photos, but in hand they felt and looked a lot better to me.

I know even the Joe o-rings from like '97-'06 were more like the waxy plastic too. It's not a deal breaker, but I do love that glossy finish on the originals. I even wipe my ARAH figs doen once a year with a little baby oil to shine 'em up! Maybe it's just because that is what I remember as a kid? Nostalgic bias I guess lol

If I were you, and you wanted to fix the rivets, I'd hit up Joe Mauler works on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@joemaulerworks6378/featured and ask him for advice in the comments section of one of his videos, cause he seems to know quite a bit about this stuff, and I remember asking him about the rivets, loose elbows etc. and he seemed very knowledgeable. I'd imagine he maybe able to give you some advice, or at least give you feedback on what is or is not possible, and the risks you run.

Ahhhh, okay well that does make a lot of sense and I wouldn't want broken crotches or thumbs or cracked elbows on new figures. I would have been fine with the heads being the shiny plastic still since those don't really crack or break.

Yeah, I've seen some people's with stress marks, but that hasn't happened to mine. I do however feel a lot safer shoving a weapon into the new figures hands, and playing rough with them compared to the vintage figures. I tried to put vintage Zartan on a figure stand, and his heels exploded... it was a shock to the system when that happened, but no issues with the new figures, so I do think the slightly softer plastic has mitigated those issues to a certain degree.

So you don't agree with Michael, "Imma cranky bitch made muthafucka," French's assement that the Skystriker was underwhelming?
