The announcement of their existence should be enough to get you excited to purchase. Seeing versus reading is a qualitative matter of value, but unless you think the art is going to be terrible, the announcement itself should be enough to persuade you to purchase if you were waiting on this info.
Yes, I'd like to see them as well, but knowing is half the battle and all that.

I don't think the success or failure of the Skystriker is an indictment of this community or its size, but just that there are a combo of factors that make this a less than ideal project:
1) This is something consumers have seen many times before for much cheaper 2) (related) it received zero marketing push/updates for the first 30 days of its 45 day funding period. We had zero idea how the product was updated, improved, and different from what we've seen in the past until we saw the first video from the team a week or so back. 3) the timing of this relative to Christmas makes it harder for consumers to justify spending their discretionary income on themselves. 4) By the time the above happened, including the cardbacks for the stretch goals, consumers who might be on the fence see how far off we are from those with so little time to go and say "well that's nice, but we're not going to hit the stretch goals." Death by a thousand cuts - an accumulation of shortcomings on the promotions and marketing side. Hasbro being caught flat-footed with the success of Classified is a clear sign that the market for GI Joe surpassed their expectations, so this failure (if it happens) shouldn't be seen as a failure of the brand, or in interest in O-Rings (which has been neither proven nor disproven at this point), but of the specific HasLab. At a bare minimum, between Skystriker and Rancor, Hasbro has learned a ton about how to improve their strategic operations to get HasLabs to succeed. I make a pretty good living, and can personally understand this mentality. But I do not agree with it. $30 can be, after taxes, a few hours' work for some folks. Or it can be 30 minutes or less for others. If you're in the latter category, it is quite cruel to tell someone in the former category they are ostensibly a cheapskate for having a price threshold. Someone whose mentality is "it's only $30 difference" should be willing to paypal a few Hisstankers that money to complete the purchase of a skystriker if they're so indifferent to the value of $30. |

Honestly, their videos and announcements have been weak. Why not SHOW up file cards and carded figures? Instead they just TELL us about it? Why not give us a side by side comparison? A painted prototype? Some good photos of the model? There has been very little that we've actually seen - if you think about it. 3D Renderings are one thing - but it's hard to pull the trigger when that's all we're going on.

Fair enough and thanks for the thoughtful response. I re-read what I wrote and it was snarky and baiting in its tone. I agree, death by a thousand cuts if it doesn't happen. I guess ultimately and selfishly I just want it to happen regardless of your aforementioned reasonable reasons why it could fail.

No sweat. I'm a fellow grump as well, so quite familiar with those temptations. I also really really want this to fund (less for the specific item than for Hasbro to start off an O-Ring relaunch with "data-based evidence" that interest in the line is milquetoast at best), and don't want to see anyone - Hasbro or us - make the wrong or oversimplistic assertions of why it might not succeed. Damned tempting to do so, though.

Which reminds me of the GI Joe episode of TTTMU on Netflix. At the start of that episode they make a point to mention that Merrill Hassenfeld was not going to sign-off on 80's Joe unless the brand team had just the right approach. Obviously they eventually did and the rest is history, but this retro redo feels lacking in originality if I'm being completely honest. I doubt if Merrill were alive today he would given retro the greenlight as the right away to revitalize the brand for modern sensibilities. Selling only to adults is I suppose fine if you want to limit your scope, but why? Joe is such an iconic and beloved property that deserves an all out or nothing approach. Classified is definitely the right approach but is retro o-ring? Why simply dip back into the same well for another go round hoping it will catch on with modern kids? Sorry to seem the debbie downer, but I'm worried this effort will be still born if we don't get more than the 80's figures redone with food grade o-rings. |

I wish between now and Dec 7th they would show more video/pics of the inside of the cockpit with both seats and figures. My biggest concern is whether the RIO's feet have extra room under the pilot's seat. From the prototype images, it looks like there is plenty of room under Ace's seat for an ME (4") figure to fit. Same goes for the nose area for Ace's feet with the throttle/stick and pedals.
I'm really on the fence on this one being an ME collector, but I don't want the opportunity to pass me by and then regret not owning one later. I feel confident that ME figures will fit in the cockpit, whether you Dremel the peg off the seat or a bigger hole in the ME figures' backs. At the worst case scenario, I'll put two ME torsos in the cockpit seeing as how it would be primarily for display purposes. Jason |

Can’t say that I’m feeling confident about this getting funded. Pretty disappointing to see where it stands with 8 days left

Hi all! Re: size comparison - the 1983 and HasLab Skystriker versions are almost identical from a size perspective. Official comparison shots coming this week, but hope that’s helpful for now! Just to reiterate this too, we didn’t just reuse the original mold for the HasLab version either. All new mold for all parts involved
