I like how the panel and HasLab page are very specific to attach the SS and flight crew to The Pit as opposed to the Flagg. Hasbro went out of their way to make no mention of the Flagg, which this jet is an obvious companion piece to.
"We don't want to hear about making a new Flagg so we're not going to use that name again." |

Man I wanted to waste my money on some haslab and I plan on going in on Rancor but I’m very lukewarm on Skystryker. F14 has never been my favorite vehicle. I collect 6 inch. Price seems high etc etc etc
But ultimately, it doesn’t feel like a go big or go home project. I will keep watching and I’m vulnerable to FOMO but there’s nothing yet pushing me to buy |

Well look at this way. You are getting 6 figures. The Ace and the co pilot. The stretch goals are Scarlett Flight suit, Rip cord and 2 of the ground crew. Granted they are 3.75 inch but I am sure they are going to be exclusive to the Haslab set. Just something to consider. I am curious as to what will be included with the Rancor.

Someone needs to just email Hasbro at this point, or find someway to get the team to hear about this. If they hear we want ME options, chances are they will give it to us.

Do i need another Skystriker? No, definitely not.
Did i back this anyway? Hell yeah! Flight stand and blast effects will be nice, but the support vehicles are the real icing on the cake. For the o-ring lovers, the pit crew stretch goal will be so awesome to unlock. I'm only into ME, so those aren't that interesting to me sadly. |

I'll tell you what I don't get. If we're gearing up for a Haslab Skystriker at well over $200, why not address the grossly inaccurate front landing gear (which has always bothered me about both prior molds of the Skystriker), the inaccurate rear landing gear (also irritating, but not as much as the front gear), the inaccurate instrument panels and seats, the inaccurate scale, the inaccurate location of the new intake fans, the inaccurate location and length of the new tailhook, and so on?
I think this is what baffles me more than anything. If you're paying to license the actual F14, you don't need to change things just enough to stay out of legal trouble. You can actually totally match the source material for once. So while you're adding on new details to mimic the real F14, you're charging premium price, and you're trying to make an "ultimate" Skystriker...shouldn't you go whole hog on nailing the details to match the real F14 in 1:18 scale? They have full permission to clone the features of the F14, but they just do a rough sketch of a lot of things instead? Why? Like I said before, it still looks good and I can't pick out a single update that made anything WORSE than the original Skystriker. It's all upside. But at this price point they could have - and should have - really put together something definitive and "ultimate." All that would have taken is a few notable adjustments to their design approach that they just totally skipped over. But then again, maybe there are people who would be upset with a true F14 with Skystriker deco. That's just not a viewpoint I can understand, but I can accept that it might exist. Just not sure how commonly held it is. Last edited by Jmacq1; 10-24-2021 at 09:03 AM.. |
