I know it costs money to run a production run, but would have been better if they flooded the pegs with Snake Eyes and Destro for those who couldn't find them the first time... and maybe Field Variant Duke, but especially Cobra Viper and Major Bludd. No love for fatsuit Firefly, hoping for a revision minus the fatsuit.

"Just curious about something as I sensed an underlying tension behind it. Several times in your post you made it a point to put "friends" in literal quotes in relation to those who benefitted from the WM find. Can you unpack that a bit? Why did you need to make that such a point of your post?
FWIW I wasn't one of those mystery "friends" and have zero vested interest in the surprise WM drop. Just curious for its own sake why you called that out twice and seemed to do so with vehemence." Quote:

I followed the discussion when the Walmart sale first happened on here. I was at the center of it the past couple of days. We were told there was more to the story. No one was whining or crying. No one wanted to be friends with some unknown person. Just a few of us were having a discussion (is that allowed?) and asking questions. Only one person was a little miffed about having to wait over half a year for the second batch of figures. ONE person. Are we not allowed to talk about something without being called whining crybabies especially when we got one of the all time Hiss Tank weirdest responses ever? I was told, or we were all told, or someone was told to F OFF because this person was too big time hanging out with toy influencers. That still hasn't been explained. I'd love to hear it. LOL! P.S. Please elaborate if you could. Would like to hear more about this. I'm sure you've read everyone's questions here. I hope you both didn't join to each just post one sentence.

For myself, I pre-orderd Flint and Jay, and received them long ago. If I had not ordered on-line, either by choice or lack of options, I absolutely would have acquired both from stores. In fact, I picked up an extra Flint by walking into a Gamestop. I made a decision based on previous difficulty and perceived distribution, or lack thereof. I hedged my bet, as it were. And I bet wrong. I just wonder how many others also ordered or pre-ordered, thus leaving the stock on shelves mostly untouched. Plus, slime-ball scalpers have probably moved on. Tough to move figures when HASBRO sells on eBay (at the moment) for less than retail. Quote:
Hahaha, no. The gallery here automatically rotates pictures when uploaded. If my picture is tall, it turns. If it's wide, it doesn't turn. I try to take wide pictures. This one was rushed, as I didn't want to be "that guy taking pictures of toys." Thanks for the info! I'll see if I can add him to my Spirit/SS pre-order for free shipping.

*removed original comment* On reflection, I don't care enough to respond to that. Not interested in going down the rabbit hole.
Keeping an eye on target stock to see if they start showing up locally. Think watching for it to switch from "not sold at this store" to "out of stock" is usually a good indication they arrived to that store. Not too concerned because it really seems like they've upped production and things are much easier to get now. But saving a few bucks at target vs the online stores doesn't hurt :P Last edited by SwordMonkey; 12-03-2021 at 08:16 AM.. |

I started a return today to take a couple duplicates back to Target for a refund. I went crazy and bought too many of a couple figures. I thought they'd give me a return slip to take to the store. They just refunded me and told me to keep it. wtf? Is accepting returns really that bad for business?

Yep. Let me see if I can concisely summarize his post:
1) Manufacturer makes more than Target wanted (to account for manufacturing errors and other factors - damage in shipping? loss? fire?). Target orders 50K, they make 51K (hypothetical figures). 2) Manufacturer has 1,000 figures nobody owns if all goes well. Target has right of refusal bc they're exclusive, but says "meh, that's not enough figures for us to try to figure out how to distribute. no thanks." 3) Manufacturer now can sell those figures to someone else (probably legally prevented from first-run stores, has to be a closeout store, despite Wal-Mart surely having no interest in only 1,000 figures). Big Lots and national chains have the same low interest as Target - how do we distribute 1000 figures across >1000 stores? Too much of a headache for the profit margin, no thanks. 4) Manufacturer finds a regional closeout chain who has a few dozen stores who is interested in buying. The quanity:store ratio is favorable to them. Deal made, figures sold. 5) Joe fans see Beach Head for $14 at Bargain Hunt and say "WTFFFFF"

Picked up Classified Alley Viper via eBay recently (yes I overpaid, no I don't regret one dollar of it). This figure is absolutely figure of the year IMHO. Granted it has that sheen of newness and I'm a diehard Joe fan already so built in adoration totally admitting that, but this figure is amazing. From the 80's faithfulness to the design and color to the 'plusing' of the accessories and load out... never mind sheer shelf presence and playability... pure win. You folks who haven't picked up one of these yet (likely 98% of you)… you will absolutely love this figure.

I recall when we were talking about this wave a few weeks back some on here speculated that Alley Vipers and BATS might have been planned a while back when they were still making small numbers of each figure and not meeting demand. Could the first batch be from then where they did not make enough and that is why we are now waiting for a second batch to be made not shipping until July?
Remember that 1x, 2x, 3x December case mix was spoiled FOREVER ago. And, lo and behold, despite the logistics mess, we are getting 1x Gung Ho, 2x BAT, and 3x Alley Viper cases in December (at least according to Dorkside and the WM ordering situation).
