Posted on CNN.com with a nice toy store pic of a kid drooling over a boxed USS Flagg.
https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/23/opini...rtz/index.html No mention of the Classified line. The article ends with this: "The fantasy at the core of G.I. Joe is bravery and friendship, just as powerful and relevant today. His glory days may be behind him, but what he needs to do is shed the nostalgia and focus on the future, keeping only his old unfailing optimism. He needs to reconnect with America — or maybe it’s the other way around — to know what his next mission is. And knowing is half the battle." Thoughts?

Yeah. It's not exactly a riveting journalism piece, especially to those with our knowledge base. Cool pic, though.

It crops up every couple of years or so here, and I love seeing it every single time.

That's hilarious. G.I. Joe, toy-wise, is as popular now as it has ever been since the 80s. As usual, no one at CNN (or other mainstream news outlets) ever bothers to do any research.

"But nowadays G.I. Joe is hard to find in stores. The brand seems to mostly rely on online sales to adult collectors, who are willing to spend on deluxe figures and statues to relive their childhood. Young boys, it appears, just aren’t interested anymore."

His assertation that Fortnite specifically killed GI Joe is inaccurate at best. Video games have taken a big bite out of all toy sales, not just Joe.

Thing is, it's almost exclusively popular with the same people that it was in the 80's, and not all of us at that. They essentially summed up Joe's current resurgence with this:
"But nowadays G.I. Joe is hard to find in stores. The brand seems to mostly rely on online sales to adult collectors, who are willing to spend on deluxe figures and statues to relive their childhood. Young boys, it appears, just aren?t interested anymore." |

But comics in general are just down as well. It's a big deal based on the industry more than just big deal in the spectrum of Joe.
