The subscription fee is often actually too low to be the profit generator people think it is. Disney+, for example, actually loses money and Disney expects it to for a few years. It's propped up by Disney's other divisions and the real money it generates comes from sales of the merchandise & services (theme parks, theatrical releases, etc) it increases exposure to/drives interest in.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura still owns the movie rights (and I think he owns the t.v. rights,) is Bonaventura contractually obligated to use Paramount for his live action JOE projects?

Im sure this dude really cared. Im sure any super rich exec really cares. People just robbing from the company. They don't care about "corporate goals". They all just want that pay day.

I'm as anti-corporate as it gets, but don't underestimate the egos of these people. Sure, being rich and powerful is part of it, but many of them are also driven to succeed by metrics other than personal wealth. Being responsible for a major turn-around and/or maximizing profitability and etc is a huge ego-thing too.

Just because Paramount isn't doing big budget films doesn't mean that they wouldn't do a smaller budget JOE flick, (assuming that they would do a JOE flick again and if they did a smaller budget isn't necessarily a bad thing,)
Lorenzo di Bonaventura still owns the movie rights (and I think he owns the t.v. rights,) is Bonaventura contractually obligated to use Paramount for his live action JOE projects?

I’d blame this on the terrible movies they’ve been producing, but the truth is that nobody’s been making movies worth watching, so holding Paramount accountable seems unfair.

Agreed. I can’t imagine any other studio in Hollywood doing anything better with Joe. (However, I can surprisingly think of a couple who could do worse) I think I’ve kinda reached the end of the line with Hollywood for the most part and I don’t think I’m alone. Everything just seems so… predictable and uninspired.

In other news, according to Box Office Mojo, Marvel's Shang Chi movie's first weekend profit of over $71 million in the US broke Labor Day weekend records, while critics also love the film.
