Sadly Lorenzo made Paramount and Hasbro billions with Transformers, so they keep just letting him be in charge of things. Unless the next Transformers bombs, they will probably just keep using him. Bumblebee turned things around for Transformers after the Last Knight was a disaster, but if the Beast Wars movie also fails that would be two in a row for him, hopefully they take notice.

Not every great idea was intended to last for decades or to survive being reinvented for "relevance" or "change for the sake of change." The A-Team film of a few years ago didn't work and the combo of Joes and The A-Team (a la Renegades) didn't prove long-lasting. The greater fact is that no one is creating anything new that rivals the momentum/longevity of "old" comics, cartoons, and toy lines. Too many cowards who want to tell us what was wrong with the past, bean-counters with no imagination, and decision-makers who don't understand the property are more concerned with fattening their wallets on the easy buck instead of developing something new that can not only compete but establish itself in the way of DC Comics, Marvel, Hasbro, Kenner, etc.'s legendary lines so exhausted characters can fade away. I'm not sure Hollywood itself was meant to endure this long.

The hate boner for Kennedy makes no sense, her career is massive, it has ups and downs, but so have other big names in the industry who have far less success under their belts. Folks are nuts over Kennedy because OMG STAR WARS. She's behind so many beloved films but "those don't count" for whatever goal shifting folks like to come up with. |

'Cause when the aliens from outer-space invade, humanity had better have it's sh*t together. ;-)

Hell, one of my favorite "action" films is "The Wages Of Fear." It literally has an anti-free market/pro communist message. Nothing I support. But you have to put those elements together in your mind in order to see them. It's thought provoking, and a terrific film, regardless of those ideas. "Get woke, go broke" is not just "cute," it's accurate. It describes productions that make little effort developing characters or story, and sometimes completely ignoring what came before in terms of a franchise, in favor of making every element a lazy stand-in for a political message. See Disney Star Wars for a great example. Completely leveled franchise. |
