Am planning to catch this on Pluto TV down the line, or borrowing the Blu-Ray/DVD from the library.

As far as Chuck, I've never read his Joe comics. How are they? |

I enjoyed them more than recent Hama, but as with all of the IDW GI Joe books - it *really* could have benefited from some competent editing. Chuck had some strong starts and interesting premises, but more often than not, his stories tended to wander and fizzle.
Oh, and as for LdB's involvement with Joe? Kiss of death. I would ask that he please leave and never come back. Last edited by Ako Roshi; 07-27-2021 at 11:37 PM.. |

I think the relationship between Bay and Paramount became understandably strained after The Last Knight bombed. He hasn’t worked with them since.

I know. G.I. JOE isn't a hard G.I. JOE is the code name for America's daring, highly-trained, special missions force. It's purpose? Defend human freedom against COBRA, a ruthless terrorist orginazation determined to rule the world!
You know how every Star Wars movie opens with "Long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away? I'd open a JOE movie with the Sunbow monologue and the fight scene in the movie are the JOEs in a fire fight. Quote:
We live in sketchy times where Americans are divided more than ever. Different interests are pulling America apart, dividing us- by race, sex, class, etc. It could not be a better time for Hasbro to give us a feel-good, patriotic, good vs evil, action and adventure film with a set of characters as unique and diverse as America herself, united and facing a common threat. Something EVERYONE of good will could enjoy.
I agree. Blame Hasbro.

2) Most movies take place in America with American characters. G.I. JOE doesn't need to appeal to an international market anymore than any other film. Besides, this is the second time that they tried the global integrated joint operating entity concept and The shit ain't working. They fandom is demanding that (and Hasbro needs to,) go to what does work. Quote:
I know nothing about the movie industry other than watching them, but one of the most rah rah American soldier movies I can recall lately was American Sniper which did about $200 million overseas. Maybe the landscape has changed since 2014, I don't know, but it seems like there is a market for American military movies worldwide unless $200 million internationally is a bad number.

How about Kathryn Bigelow instead? She doesn't seem too busy at the moment. EDIT: Wow. Kathryn Bigelow is ancient! I had no idea. I'm sure she's still up to the task, though. I mean, look at Dr Fauci. Oh, and someone solicited recommendations for a great martial arts movie to stream ... "Shadow" (2018) is beyond spectacular: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/shadow_2018

You're not wrong, but the brand has been going international since nearly the beginning:
