After 2020, I don't know how you can stick to this viewpoint. All of the lower class and middle class businesses were forcibly shut down by the most aggressive authoritarian measures we have ever seen in America. The megacorporations all had zero competition and incredible years. Amazon made more in one year than in any of their prior years combined. The largest lobbyist industry in DC is writing the bills for the legislature. Science has been rejected in favor of the corporate messaging. The media is nearly fully state run, their messaging flip-flops depending on the political winds and nobody questions it, they all just go along with it. The most powerful entity in the world right now is social media, and they are open about the fact that they not only take orders from the executive branch but they also coordinate among themselves. It's all one big club. Just because you like it doesn't mean it isn't real. I wish we had a word for when the government and business collude together against the people. Quote:
His summary is actually pretty accurate. I understand that it is satirical in nature but if you don't like it then you need to change the prevailing meta-narrative. JediJones is counter-culture. Quote:
Politics is downstream from culture. It's really not a coincidence that the culturally liberal centrist set has, in the last decade, moved from anti-authority, anti-military, anti-intelligence community (especially during the first Bush 43 term) to being pro authority, pro military, and pro IC.
There is no conservative representation in culture. The ones in Hollywood all have to meet in secret or be cast out like the heretics to The Religion that they are. The only conservatives in film or television are strawmen created by Leftist productions, that's why it's so easy to create a false enemy in the minds of the consumer about what that corporately-marginalized base of people really are about. GiJoe is absolutely a product which should be (in a balanced or rational world) used to explore these positive themes and to be sincere in it's core purpose. We don't live in that world right now though. The cries of institutional racism don't take into account who runs all of the institutions. All of them. It's a hyper-racist theology which is meant to divide, and it's doing it in this fandom the same as it was designed to do across all fields and levels of thought.

I feel so comfortable because I had a nice filling lunch followed by a shit that made me feel like I lost 2 pant sizes. That's just me though.

If you want to see this thought process in action just look at the debate in the thread asking which GI Joe character is the most unrealistic/goofy. One of the first answers, with many agreeing, was Quick Kick, with the primary argument being he had no military background and was merely a stunt man and was somehow qualified on the normal 80's slew of NATO small arms. And this is despite the fact that the military, or at least SOF, and law enforcement have for decades looked to both the civilian market for OTS goods (for example, SFODD/Delta/CAG/"The Unit" which GI Joe was a fictional analogue of in the 90's starting to look at the burgeoning 2011 series of double stack 1911-like pistols and then switching to Glock 22s/23s long before the US military even thought of holding a trial for a pistol to replace the M9) and to the civilian competitive shooting scene for training and technique from people who have no military or law enforcement background like Rob Lathem and Jerry Miculek. It isn't necessarily some nefarious conspiracy but it is an output from a specific input. I'm not trying to be rude but I'm getting a real Boomer "I just want to grill" vibe from this discussion. It's okay to think beyond the surface level about things you enjoy. Last edited by GIJOSE; 08-04-2021 at 06:57 PM.. |

I dunno, kinda comes off as a "we're fucking sick of all of the toy-centric threads on a toy-centric site becoming a political opinion dumping ground" vibe to me.
