Grunt was the first ARAH figure i can remember seeing,at an old Skaggs Drug Store.I'm thinking he was not that popular, and leftover.I don't think he's important so much, but kind or represents an everyday ''lunchpail'' kind of guy.Just my opinion, anyway.

He was all over the early licensing stuff (and was in the corner box of the comics forever), but Duke was the star of the cartoon from moment one and Snake Eyes became the focus of the comics after a half-dozen issues or so. Even before SE's rise, Stalker was the focus of the Joes more than Grunt (Scarlett, too).

Grunt to me leads the green shirts into battle. He strikes me as a Lee Marvin type more so then Duke does which I think maybe what they where going for with Duke? I could be wrong.

I always viewed Grunt as the team's utility player, particularly given his eventual engineering background making him seem like he was one of the smarter members of the O13. |

He doesn't strike me as the John Wayne type either. Maybe more like the Terrence Knox from Tour of Duty and William Davoe from Platoon.

I saw a pic, maybe on Reddit, of Grunt with his lipstick scraped off and it looked good.

Untouched, lip paint removed (and eyebrows repainted), full repaint. The lipstick looks looks OK in brighter lighting. More in depth forthcoming...

So, why did they give Cobra Officer a red logo on the card? The original card had a silver logo like the figure.
If they were the original molds I'd consider picking up a couple. |

The original art may have had a red logo. I've had the link below bookmarked. Lots of nice card art without all the actual packaging distractions. Someone can also check the magnets sold back in the day, if there was one for CO.
MEDUSAWOLF: The G.I. Joe Artwork of Hector Garrido Maybe some concept image of the card had red and if so why would they use that? People know it as silver. |
