Because many fans are literal big man babies that have never grown up and accepted that things just change.
I have my reservations about this movie and had since the beginning. But "Not Being Like Hama/ARAH/Whatever" is the last of my worries. And I've been a fan of GI Joe since the 80s too. I'll give it a chance but like most Paramount efforts I'm not expecting anything stellar. The dialogue and script are awful. A woman actually tells Storm Shadow, "That look you get in your eye...like a shadow before the storm!" Did anyone tell these people that Arashikage literally means STORM SHADOW in English. They swap out Snake Eyes' actual backstory for what they did in The Legend of Chun-Li. Also, wait until you see how Snake Eyes gets his codename. It's comical. People complained about how Han Solo got his name in SOLO: A Star Wars Story. SOLO is Macbeth compared to this. |

I really wonder what would happen if Paramount would actually just adapt Hama's comics stories. After three failures at re-inventing the story - you'd think they might want to try. Especially with how Marvel movies have done so well while sticking very close to the source material.
It might be too late now. I get the feeling this Snake Eyes movie will be the final nail in the coffin. |

Everyone acts like Lorenzo DiBonaventura is good at this and knows how to make proper changes and knows what to do, but I ask you all, does he?
Were the last two GI Joe movies great movies? The early Transformers films were successful, but were they great movies? I also ask you this, have the changes made to the franchise really made these films that much better? And yeah make changes, but make them good. Look at Thanos in the MCU. In the comics, Thanos wants the stones and gauntlet to impress Death and win her love. He's a nihilist who hates himself. In the movies, he's a universal ecoterrorist more like Ra's al Ghul. I'll cull the population to save the universe blah blah blah. But at least he still looks like Thanos and kind of has the attitude. And his dialogue and writing were good. There's nothing good about this movie. |

Eh, Snake Eyes has a very moderate budget. I think this will end up being a pandemic level success. Especially once we see less established IPs trying to open later this year.

I can accept change, but they didn't make a good movie here.
The dialogue and script are awful. A woman actually tells Storm Shadow, "That look you get in your eye...like a shadow before the storm!" I really wanted to get excited for this movie, but I mean, they gave storm shadow essentially the same white leather suit w/coat tails!!! I'm not sure if/when hollywood will realize that their true backstories, origins, etc. is what makes them so popular. I understand some things need to be tweaked or slightly changed, but to sway totally away for source material and make up your own shit, just doesn't work for me and many fans. |

The way he get's his "Snake Eyes" name was in one of the trailers. He says it's because he always has bad luck, that's why he calls himself snake eyes (insert eye rolling emoji).

Budget was reportedly about $88 million. That's likely without prints and advertising. |

[QUOTE=TheVileOne;5433323]That line isn't in the movie, and that's not why he gives himself that name.
If it wasn't in the movie then it must've got edited out but it was in one of the trailers I saw and he said that in one of the trailers. |

I hate it too. Shaky cam and CGI are two of the biggest blights in modern moviemaking.
Didn't really expect the action to be one of the issues with this film, with Koji and Uwais involved. This really doesn't bode well. Seeing it tomorrow with a group of other GI Joe fans (They're all ninjas, of course). Hoping for the best, expecting the worst. |
