I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'll get this HISS III Tank; I like the "alternate" blue color, but strongly prefer the original Black version.
I do have a question for long-time ARAH collectors/fans. Is this Blue H.I.S.S. tank a re-release of a Blue H.I.S.S. tank that came out in the original line from 1982-1994-ish - or, did they just "make this up" for the new retro line? I was an original collector of the ARAH line back in the '80's, but only was into these from 1982 - 1987. I lost track of the line after that, and couldn't find any evidence that a blue H.I.S.S. tank had come out in that original line. Though, I did find a "HISS II" that came out in 1989 - it looked great, and I wish they would re-make this. But, the sculpt is completely different from either the original Black one or this new Blue one: https://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/89/hiss2/ Thanks in advance for any info. on this. |

Thanks! I suspected this new toy was a re-release of an older one, but never knew that the previous one was from 2000. I did start collecting some of the Joe lines in the early-mid 200X's (notably the comic packs), but don't remember seeing this vehicle in stores.

The Hiss 2 really needs a rerelease. I would love to see that one in all black and ditch the red windshield with a clear plastic one.

Finally got around to applying the stickers to the H.I.S.S. III, which was a little aggravating, because Hasbro forgot to put some white colored background to a few of the stickers. To correct this, I used white adhesive paper behind some of the stickers before cutting out and applying them.
Because the armor plating skirts had mud on them, (a nostalgic nod to the earlier version of the H.I.S.S. III), how to get the sticker to go under the mud splashes? Can't be done, so I had to wipe paint over those stickers to maintain the mud splash appearance. I'm just happy to own a Rip It action figure now, because I had neither of the first two versions of that character (2000 or 2007) in my collection. Rip It is so fearless and sure of himself, he failed to notice the missile specialist, Bazooka, preparing to engage their tank convoy.

Heh, I was just joking about stickers the other way, where with the AWE Striker they're hard as hell to see because they're white-on-white.
