Glad they're switching away from the window box. It sucks not seeing the figure, but the man-children in my area destroyed two HISS tanks over here by ripping out the figures. Funny thing is, I took one of them to customer service when I was checking out and it ended up back on the shelves. They really give zero fucks at Walmart.
One time I found a First Order Snowtrooper that had been "swapped" for an old POTF 90's Snowtrooper. I laughed and handed it to the lady working the aisle and showed her. She took it and thanked me. A few minutes later I found it on the next aisle. She literally just moved it away from me. So I just ripped it open and left the figure on the shelf. Shit's infuriating. From the 2000-01 RAHC, which were recolored re-releases of a few of the original run, sometimes as re-imagined characters (likely due to copyright issues)- for example, the V1 Roadblock's mold was "Doubleblast", Baroness' was "Chameleon". This period holds a special place in my heart, as seeing them on the pegs at Wally rekindled my interest in not only the line, but this stupid hobby in general, for better or worse.

I don't see what's baffling. It's an exclusive retailer brand, they are not putting a ton of money into it as it's not their evergreen product (that's Classified). This is just a side project so it doesn't have much emphasis just like the Transformers retros did as well. A release once in a while, minimal investment, easy money. This is a simple repaint so it's easy money

We did know it was going to be a Blue Hiss from this SE Asian website:
Hasbro - G.I. Joe Retro Collection - 3.75" Vehicle - Cobra H.I.S.S. (Blue Version) - The Falcon's Hangar This is the first time we are seeing pics. That and this is probably part of Hasbro's initiative to omit plastic from their packaging. 46Zone, good spot man on that Asian site! Unless its already been said on here I reckon the packaging design is different as now the Retros are being made in Vietnam right? Just like the way the Retro Stalker and Cobra Trooper are differently made than previous Retro waves, they are pretty Marauder friendly too! |

The significance of Rip It, from a fictional character point of view, was that although COBRA had many black H.I.S.S. tanks on the battlefield, there existed (as of the year 2000) an upgraded singular tank painted in Cobra blue with significantly more armor and other electronic upgrades (as seen on the front grill/headlight sticker), and was called the H.I.S.S. III. Rip It was a new individual villainous character who was a loner, and disliked by the other Cobra H.I.S.S. Drivers, but he achieved results. I tend to think of him as the armored ground version of Wild Weasel (although they are not similar in personalities). The GIJCC brought back Rip It in 2007 at the G.I.Joe Convention in Atlanta, coloring him black to make him seem darker or more evil, and actually gave him a decent bit of additional information and character development on his file card. He was intended to be a convention exclusive which would come with the Cobra Shredder tank (repainted Mauler in Cobra blue), but the vehicle was cancelled due to problems at the factory. In 2008, Hasbro attempted to usher in the return of that infamous Blue H.I.S.S. tank with a Target-exclusive "Attack on Cobra Island" repainted H.I.S.S. tank, but it was a swing and a miss in my opinion, because instead of coming with Rip It, it included a fairly decent Cobra Driver army builder figure, without any personality. Even the Blue H.I.S.S. tank lacked the front sticker or other markings which identified it as the personal H.I.S.S. III tank operated by Rip It. That same year, Hasbro also released a standard black H.I.S.S. tank which came with a Cobra H.I.S.S. Commander army building figure, which wore a blue color variant uniform of the Cobra H.I.S.S. Driver, and lacked any significance or meaningful change on the file card. It was a poor replacement for Rip It. This new 2021 G.I. Joe Retro Walmart exclusive H.I.S.S. III tank with Rip It nailed it precisely. It is the Mk III personal upgraded tank of Rip It, with improved stickers easier to read for the company markings, the unique front grill/headlight, and even the added detail of the painted mud splatters which the 2000 version had, but the 2008 version lacked. I hope there will be a battle stand (figure stand) included which is labeled as Rip It, and I already have a golf club reserved for him taken from the Boss Fight Studio 2020 H.A.C.K.S Advent Calendar set. Edit: I have verified that "Cobra Trooper Rip It" is printed on the stand, but the stickers are NOT improved upon like I thought they'd be as in the prototype photograph on the back of the box.

Anyone who picked him up have loose picks of the H3 and Rip-It? Loved the redesign of the red HISS Driver, so I can imagine this one will be just as good or better.

I like the blue driver. I used to have that 25th HISS with the blue driver but later sold it.
