Latest update:
Mission Report: We’ve spent the last couple months putting the Strike Force Alpha action figures under the microscope. Meeting regularly with Craig (Zica toys) who is managing this project in China for us, has provided a fresh set of eyes and new perspective on the project. This was a painful process but was needed to ensure we send the factory the very best prototypes we can. These meetings have resulted in resculpting, painting, and some design changes. Aesthetically the figures will remain the same. One of the biggest changes we made was to include the O-ring design back into our figure. I’ll say that again, these will be O-ring figures now. The ball joint we were using in the waist limited the travel a little bit compared to the original O-ring figures. We want our products to be at the very least as good as originals and improved where we can. The other item of interest is we are going to make the arm and leg assemblies able to be swapped into original O-ring figures. The other aspects of our design will remain the same including the POP N SWAP features. We lost a little time in the beginning going through this, but it will pay off later when we don’t run into these issues during production. The factory has the prototypes now and will begin the scanning/mold making process. Once this happens future updates will be a little more exciting. We will provide updates including pictures when available. Daniel Watts is in the early stages of drawing the back of the cardback. Daniel does things old skool. Pencil and paper, just the way we like it. This piece of artwork features Some of the Lost Squadron trying to escape while being blocked by Kanstruct. In the lead is a character we plan to make in the future named SGT. Hammer. We can’t wait to see the final product. Speaking of lost Squadron, we originally just showed the artwork for these figures for the Kickstarter. Shown here are the paint samples for the heads, chest, and arms attachments for the zombie battle pack, android battle pack, Atomic Mike, Baron Steele, and Johnie Bullet. All these parts had to me sculpted from scratch by Rodney Greene. Rodney did a great job capturing the look we were going for. We love it when friends help us out in this project. We still have a few people that haven’t complete their surveys, please do so asap. We want to get you the items you want. I moved the date to the end of November to finalize orders and Charge everyone for shipping and any extra items added during the survey. This will give you a little more time to gather funds if needed. We are committed to the Strike Force brand and the O-ring format, and it seemed natural to begin work on a female sculpting buck. This is an item that would be either printed out and sculpted on top of or digitally altered as needed. It will feature its own version of POP N SWAP and be a little more feminine than the original O-ring females. We really are just getting started on this so don’t judge us too harshly, we have a lot more to sculpt, modify, and prove out. Last, but most importantly Thank You for your support. We couldn’t see this dream become a reality without each one of you that has supported us. The presales with Big Bad Toy store and add-ons through the backerkit surveys have been very strong. I think you will be seeing Strike Force Alpha around for a long time. Last edited by The Commander; 10-19-2021 at 02:20 AM.. |

I for one am very excited that these will be genuine o-ring figures, not just o-ring inspired.

Has anyone seen updates on this project? I just checked on kickstarter and last update was in February. I was wondering if there's a FB page or someplace else where there's more info on how things are going.

Everything is still moving along. The factory is currently working on prototypes to be submitted for review and approval. Several of the original resin cast parts had to be completely resculpted digitally which put the project behind schedule.

New update. i dont feel bad he had to sell property. i said in the other post i wont back anything by him ever again, and i plan on that. if these figures arent the same quality as operation recall or longbow im definitely going to sell them. these were hyped as figures you could swap heads with. except for the fact that the heads you could swap your body with were sold separately; on top of nickeling everything else he could out of what these figures were advertised to be. |

a couple more promising updates since my last comment.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects.../posts/3823450 an extra head not included in the kickstarter is being added to each figure, from what i understand it's a new design that wasnt showed on the kickstarter and stands for backers only. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects.../posts/3856264 and this one sounds like it's picking up speed in manufacturing and the hangups are packaging. lessons for future kickstarters: packaging sucks. and they're going to be ripped open to play with the figures. bagged figures is the way to go, since "removable" packaging isnt quite available. it would be even a cheaper option to have available for backers to omit packaging from their purchase and drop the price of the figures. so if some people are super adamant about keeping figures on card, do that still for them, but then offer bagged figures and an earlier ship date for backers not interested in that. my attitude has changed a little because of these last two updates in a more positive direction. while im not happy how the campaign was ran (literally no incentives during the campaign and what feels like the bait and switch of the interchangeable heads), but im glad some freebies were added now and it's closer to completion. i still maintain i will not be backing future campaigns by this creator for making a show of alternate heads, but having to purchase an entire second figure to have the head to swap with. my gut is telling me the new alternate head is going to be generic - which is fine - but not what this campaign was established. Essentially the heads in this image should be included in one package, but they are not and you have to purchase a second figure to achieve the advertised "swap their heads!" thing and makes having two figures with the same head/body swappable feature redundant: Last edited by THEDARKONE508; 07-10-2023 at 05:07 PM.. |
