I actually don't understand what Destro sees in her. He's not an ideologue like she is. I have always felt like she is using him and would turn on him.
However, maybe her life was punctuated with radical crazy people like Cobra Commander and sociopaths like Major Bludd, and she is drawn to Destro because he's stable and honest with her. Maybe he's her way out of the crazy.

I assume they best represented the foils of Scarlett & SE.

Did Sunbow listen to Hama about much of anything?
Destro and Baroness are a couple pretty early in the cartoon (even in MASS Device, she is confiding in him).

As a TF collector, let me just say...this is completely wrong. You think the Joe line is the only one that gets screwed over by Target Exclusives. I'm sitting on five of the six Earthrise Seekers because Thrust was a Target exclusive...or so the legends go. Because he certainly never saw the light of day in an actual store.
I also don't see generic ninja flick with Joe names having the same mass market appeal and long lasting staying power as the awful CGI robot mess movies the Transformer films have been. But, ye gods, aside from the true nuts I don't know anyone who goes 100% with TFs these days. Most people I chat with on TFW2005 seem to be like me, where they want one good version of most of the characters rather than 30 different versions of each. For instance, I skipped the Kingdom Warpath. The Generations one was perfectly fine for me. I love Beast Wars but I don't really care for the toy versions - I've just grabbed Primal thus far (I might get Megs if he goes on sale). Tracks will be pretty big because he's fairly unique, but now I want them to make a (non-Masterpiece) Skids because he's the last real G1 hole to be filled. I haven't bought a new Optimus since... Titans Return, I think, and that was only because Powermaster Prime was "my" prime. (And, yeah, the seekers were MADDENING. I'm glad I always view the coneheads as bonus characters rather than essential pickups.) |

This movie is going to bomb. Definitely not going to pay money to see this in a theater. There's nothing in this trailer that pays homage to the the comics which, thought I loved the cartoon as a kid, are the gold standard. In fact, I don't see any of Larry Hama's story in here other than the character/organization names. Not seeing Hama's consulting shine through in any way.

True. She told him how CC wasted the elements, didn't she?
Not sure about Sunbow/Hama. Thought Buzz Dixon was the man on the cartoons. |

I think Hama was just a consultant on the Sunbow toon. There was definitely a relationship between the comic and toyline though, as the comic was being used in the ads and to some degree vice versa. Though they were never 100% copies it was clear the information was being shared. I think the cartoon took its cues more from that.
