I just can't get behind this. I want to, soooo bad. But I can't. I hope others like it. Samara was perfect casting.

I lowkey hope it fails. Even if it kills the brand. Its better to die with your roots intact, then to live with out them.

I like the poster. Very cool.
I don't have any desire to see the movie fail. From the first trailer, it looks 'kind of' close to the original Snake Eyes. He's not blonde, but as long as they keep some of the main parts of the story intact I think it will be fine: - He needs to get disfigured saving Scarlett - Hard Master needs to be killed by accident while the big baddie is trying to kill SnakeEyes. Storm Shadow needs to blame SE for it, and go off to get the big bad. |

I wonder if that’s what the 12 inch Joe fans said to themselves when ARAH first came out…

I have no interest in it (other than the Scarlett action figure, which I think looks great). But its success will only buoy the brand. I hate the Bayverse films, but they definitely revived interest in G1 Transformer toys. I see no reason this can't do the same for GI Joe.

No one benefits from it failing.

If their plan is to piss people off enough to buy classic toys, well that is either genius or retarded, depending on your point of view. |

The Bayverse films were totally ridiculous and nothing like any decent version of Transformer lore, but the money they pumped into the brand helped revive the CHUG-scale, launched three cartoons based on G1 lore on Netflix, and has kept Transformers in the forefront of Hasbro's toy lines. I don't know why Snake Eyes Origins failing and sending the brand back into the closet would help anyone who wants to buy and collect GI Joe toys in the future. Just ignore the lore of the film. Who cares what they say? It doesn't affect how I view the Sunbow show at all. And to me, the comics are the one that distort the lore that I love. No 90-minute film can do more damage than they have.

No 90-mintue film can do more damage than they have. First it will be 1 90 minute shit show, then another, then a tv series, then another movie, until some collage gradate with "great ambitions" or some other high ups decide to do away with the old stuff (Classified and retro) and focus completely on the new direction. (Again this would most likely happen years in the future). I may be very wrong in all my assumptions, but in my mind it would be better to show backlash of the new stuff (like the star wars community did with the Ray trilogy), until they fix it (as they have been trying to do recently with Mando, Bad Batch and others). It is well worth risking the killing off of the brand to get it back on track, instead of simply bowing down in hopes of classic stuff, and keeping the brand alive. As they say high risk high reward. |

If Snake Eyes and Lady Jaye TV shows are successful, then there will be Origins and other film-universe inspired toys, but I guarantee you will get classically inspired toys as well. That simply is how it works. The Rey trilogy didn't prevent Black Series from making OT figures. Snake Eyes Origins being a smash hit will actually result in more ARAH-themed stuff, not less.
