Is this the genesis of the Marauder character because I'm scratching my head on that one. I'm not a fan personally. I'm all for every type of o-ring/military AF collector getting their specific niche character in this Kickstarter, but that one just seems out of place. Almost like Eagle Force crept over to CS: Longbow and sought to assert itself. I agree with you, more original characters and save the army builders (whatever they might be) for later. Of course this would likely mean fewer unlocks as the incentive to reach them wouldn't be there, but still.

We are more than halfway to the MTF figure. I have faith that it will be unlocked well before the last day, as well as the Henchman. I will say that I hesitate to make any more predictions until I see what comes after the Ninja. That ninja...just doesn't do it for me. It just seems more like a "Robot Chicken" joke to me than a legit figure. I don't think that any vintage Snake Eyes screamed "American Ninja". Even Storm Shadow didn't seem overtly Japanese (or Japanese-American), but I may be looking through blinders.

I hope for some awesome reveals. I would really like the next 100% tool figure to be female, or another well-grounded military-type

the thing that sort of/kind of irked me about the skeletron one, is...that marauder had it's finger prints all over it. but, also it felt like this was at one time "kind of a thing", where one cant release a 3.75" kickstarter without marauder in some fashion being involved just to get connections with factories or whatever. i mean, there's no fucking way i could afford that skeletron ship and it's size. but i could go out of my way to back grindstone toys' skeletron o-ring figure because i want these guys to succeed and make tons more stuff.

i literally do not care for marauder figures. the weapons/accessories? yeah totally. figures? no. absolutely not. never have. would never. o-ring figures are my preferred everything. i am not under any delusion that they are going to dive into the o-ring market. they've had 20 years to do it. they were selling accessories as far back as to when the only military figures were o-ring gijoe reissued product. marauder reuben if he's still around (TR1ER) was an o-ring customizer at first. then "new sculpt" and then 25th anniversary.

do i collect modern star wars figures with the same articulation as marauder? yes. because star wars figures have never been issued any other way; short of 5poa and they arent "generic soldier i can spend 3x as much to customize into something i want."

frankly, nothing after ghost that we've seen on the kickstarter does it for me... but i can see "american ninja", "japanese ninja" ... and "russian ninja" because why not? maybe he learned from some kung fu clan that the soviets work with? no idea. but i overall, hate ninjas in my gijoe cereal. hopefully this is it. if there is a female figure (or two) revealed later what a fantastical missed opportunity. there's nothing i need more in my collection right now than o-ring female figures. do you know how near impossible it is to find parts to customize female figures? how expensive? i've had some figures just sitting pieced together just because i dont want to ruin the parts by not making absolutely 100% my plan to modify them is infallible. but to wait for three figures im not thrilled about to unlock; and the kick starter not make it past them - and there were actually women models at the ready for this? i cant even begin to describe my total disappointment.

overall - i cant say enough how unthrilled i am at getting doubles or armybuilding. but, as i've said: armybuilders sell. marauder figures sell. i have the sinking suspicion im going to be changing my backing come last day of the campaign just because i do not see the value for me in it. as much as i literally do not want to do that. i dont need 5 more figures just to have 5 more figures. i have enough stuff just to have stuff.

im super bummed that two figures i definitely do not really need or want have to unlock before more original characters come out (even though the ninja doesnt do it for me) and like i said above, i backed a kickstarter that i basically have no interest in backing, just for their figure's contribution because i want more to come from them; and now that my chance is here, i just cant.

christ. it's starting to feel like im backing kickstarters just for the people working on it, than i am the actual product. i swear after legends of the hidden temple ninjas something or other from chad/matt and darren (all ninjas and i cant make it any more clear how i feel about ninjas.) - i got to stop doing that, man.

Sorry i keep saying the same thing and talking in circles. i want longbow to succeed, i want to be apart of it; but i hope my grievances make some sense.
