The advent of computers really ruined everyone's patience and tolerance for "things take time."
These days everything's "Instant!" "Quik" and "Rapid!" No one wants to wait anymore. I'm not gonna blow smoke, waiting sucks. But I want a good product. (Also Carson put A LOT of his own capital into O:R so we wouldn't have to put in quite so much) |

Thanks for sharing about the panel! I was going to stick around Sunday to catch it, but facing a 4 hour drive home and already being exhausted, I bowed out. Good to know I didn't miss much.
The new Doug Hart artwork is amazing and gives me all of the right feels. So much so that I picked up three of their prints. Love Longbow! All of the above were 'fear factors' for me in investing in O:R. I was excited about the idea of fan created characters, but the long lead time to create/craft the figures, never mind actually produce them, when absolutely ZERO actual prototypes existed when the Kickstarter launched freaked me out. I'm no less freaked out, but I'm allowing the O:R team to bake (and bake and bake) this line to perfection. They can learn all of the lessons that Longbow and Skeletron are going through and hopefully execute to perfection. Yeah, right! I know that rarely happens. Long story short, I'm trying to be patient. The sanctimonious among us will call this whining. However this is a message board to discuss action figures. There?s nothing wrong with being disappointed with the pace especially while vocalizing it in a civil manner (not directed at the quoted person). |

Is the panel on YouTube anywhere? I would like to watch it but can't find it anywhere. I am in the UK here so had no chance of going to Joefest

These projects are working on different schedules. And different workflows, and aesthetics.
If O:R had been operating on the same timeline as Longbow, we'd just be having the O:R kickstarter right now (Longbow already had all the pre-production stuff done when they announced). O:R is hand sculpting, Longbow is all digital (copy, mirror, paste, etc.). O:R is crafting unique parts for every character. Longbow is using a lot of the same parts for multiple characters. It's like comparing oranges to grapefruit. The end products will appear similar, yet different in some nuanced, but important, ways. I expect Operation: Recall to evoke a very similar reaction. I do agree that the creation process is much more drawn out but it's essentially creating a whole new release year of GI Joe IMO. All of the original players are involved, Carson wants to document every aspect of the creation process as it was done during the heyday of ARAH. So their is a different or dual focus on this project IMO. Whereas CS: Longbow is offering a cold-war style background and just wanting to deliver awesome figures. I am just glad that the near future is delivering amazing o-ring figures that will fit in perfectly with my ARAH collection. |

You are 100% right about them being two very different beasts though and it's definitely an apples-to-oranges comparison. Quote:

Operation: Recall is certainly a continuation of GI Joe ARAH, with all its original team involved it cannot be called less than that. I'm willing to give them ample time, I'm sure such a group of people won't fail delivering.

Yes! It's almost like ARAH 2.0 in a lot of ways. Really hoping a series 2 happens once we get series 1.
