I mostly like the latest wave and some of the more recent releases, but I like what Ultimates are supposed to be because they are so accurate to the source. I also love the cartoon as much as the original figure designs.

I think their Castle Grayskull (Filmation) line ran about $35? Even that was, eehhh... Cartoon accuracy can be a tricky thing, balancing added details, etc.

Now, of course, they charge $45-$55 for Ultimates depending on which wave you've ordered. I commented on this earlier in the thread, but BBTS used to charge about $15 more than Super7 and now they charge the exact same amount.

Yes, Super7 charged $35, which was a big step up from what Mattel was offering.

That is a good point. I've been buying their MOTU Classics/Club Grayskull figures lately and I did notice that their Ultimate figure lines (and the couple that they did in MOTU a few years back) do come with a ton of accessories. I'm not collecting their Thundercats but I did preorder Bengali because he was always my favorite.

The figures always look great in these videos. They never show the waxy / glossiness in the plastic, the derpy eyes, the bizarre makeup applications, the mismatched hip pegs, or whatever problems end up in the final version. Put a Club Grayskull Teela or Sorceress next to pictures of their videos and see what you think.
I'm very hopeful for Lady Jaye, but I'm never sure what I'm going to get from Super7. |

I still think these things look like they're made of play-doh. What a bizarre plastic/paint choice by Super7.

That is why I can't wait to get these in my hands. For one to see actually how big these things are. They look big to me in this latest video that I posted. And two, like you said, to see how the paints apps came out. Even though some of the Filmation MOTU guys I got from Super7 are glossy I still like them. I think my He-Man is kind of shiny. The Filmation figures became my favorites. Something about finally getting something that matched what we watched on TV as a kid I liked. I am betting these G.I. Joe ones might quickly become my favorite toy versions as well.
I wish they would solve their waxy flesh tone plastic issue, but there are some ways to mitigate it (a matte spray, like you would use for finishing painting miniatures, can help a bit).

Just like the Super7 MOTU Club Grayskull figures looked like the Filmation cartoon these too are supposed to look like the Sunbow cartoon. That is why they are going with that flat looking paint.
