Not even close. I won't bore everyone with another long post, but Ultimates have worse QA, cost more than twice as much, and take an eon to be made and ship. And, frankly, Super7's figures simply don't look as good, even at what they are trying to do, as Classified. As an example, the Hiss Tank Cobra Commander, with a few tweaks, will be a much better version of Sunbow CC than the too-dark, elongated, antiquated Ultimate verison.
That being said, I'm glad so many people like them. There's nothing wrong with lots of Joe product making many people happy.

Hisstank CC figure will easily be over 100 on the aftermarket until it's released/announced for the main line. You simply can't compare the lines against each other, or intermix them. |

And you definitely can compare Classified and Ultimate. You can compare QA, overall value, and how successful they are at the aesthetic they are trying to achieve. You are right that intermixing them is impossible, unless you have an eclectic display.

You can complain about Super7 all you want. Much of it is fair. But the nice thing is that at the end of the day, almost none of it matters. You set these on your shelf and they either stop your heart or they don't. It's just a magical thing. All the U-shaped double elbows and double knees in the world can't buy that feeling.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. When Hasbro tweaks the Hiss Tank Mickey Mouse commander for a mainline 24.99 release, there is an excellent chance it will be a better version of Sunbow CC than Ultimate CC (it will also be, in my opinion, probably the greatest 1:12 figure ever made). They made exactly the same tweaks to the Skystriker CC for its mainline release to make a Sunbow O-ring figure. Even if they just release a straight V1 Classified Cobra Commander (no MM symbol), it will still be a better V1/Sunbow Commander than the Ultimate version, even if it has the wrong gloves and pants.

You are right that intermixing them is impossible, unless you have an eclectic display. To digress towards your other previous point of "too-dark, elongated". Too dark compared to what? We haven't even received the cobra trooper yet in the line. He's definitely not too dark compared to classified. Those troopers are a navy blue. Regarding elongated; That's how CC looked in sunbow. Check out the images below. |

But enough. As I said, I'm quite glad so many people are enjoying these. He's exactly the same shade of blue as the ReAction Cobra Trooper figures. He's too dark.

If you like Ultimates more or Classified more it"s fine. It comes down to what you like personally. Both have their good points and bad. Just enjoy what you like. I am going to be collecting figures from both.
Snake-Eyes ver.1 is on the way. The Commander will be next. Last edited by sevreed; 03-13-2023 at 11:01 PM.. |
