Are you talking about GI Joe only or Sideshow in general? Because the first couple years of Sideshow they were only about $25. Then jumped to $50 after established. Once Star Wars entered the picture, they went to $100+ and just gone up from there. I didn't like it but continued to buy as the quality was supposed to improve. It did in some ways but not others. Hot Toys came along and scared the shit out of them so rather than compete they made an agreement to distribute. And of course raise prices again because if Hot Toys could charge that much, we want a piece of that too! The rest is just wash, rinse repeat. I went along with it for years too before going back to 1:18 and eventually 6". But with today's current pricing and more increases probably on the way, getting close to that breaking point again. Have literally hundreds of comics to still read anyway so why not. If it gets too crazy, I'll probably even withdraw from collecting forums. Like drugs you have to just stop and not "sample" out of curiosity.

Sideshow?s 12 inch line STARTED at $99.99, and I recall inching to about $120-ish before they finally scuttled the line. I actually find it impressive that ThreeZero?s offerings are still below $200.

No, they were not. When Sideshow started with GI Joe, the average Hasbro articulated 12? figure at retail was pushing $15-20. Sideshow?s level of detail FAR exceeded anything Hasbro, or any other mass retail toy firm, was doing at the time.

Threezero's early work was inconsistent at best, but they do seem to be on a roll now. Some lucky folk got a really good deal during that last Hasbro sale. Thought about Stormshadow but I prefer the camo version and had already spent a lot that week. Last edited by Mega Convoy; 06-26-2022 at 04:22 PM.. |

I wonder how likely it is that a possible price hike could cause Super7 to stop the 5 year GiJoe production run? I wonder if this is a done deal, 5 years regardless? Or is there a chance the line could end prematurely?
As I would assume they will see a major dip in backers for projects with a possible price jump. At least for a bit until collectors become acclimated to the higher prices. I know its got me sweating. As I had a "[LOT]" of GiJoe Ultimate figuress on preorder that I wanted to build up a nice 7in GiJoe display with. So far my setup is a wide shelf for each main team, 2 dedicated shelves per faction just for troop building, and a shelf per faction just for all Classified vehicles that we get and any possible Super 7 GiJoe vehicles they might give us to just help fill out the display area. Hopefully we find out some info soon about this price increase rumor. Last edited by Cobra BAT 687; 06-27-2022 at 02:02 PM.. |

If they committed to a 5 year run, it's probably just the license itself. So long as they make ReActions it's probably fine.
Otherwise, if prices become too much you could see complete waves of repaints. |

I was rewatching thru the Full Force interview with Brian from Super 7 and clipped some shots of the Production final version of the GiJoe Ultimates Cobra BA when he showed it off from the back to look into the backpack connection concerns.
I even brightened the image an played around with it in photoshop to try an see if there was a hidden ring to insinuate a magnet recessed into its back, or a plug hole. But no, nothing. From this you can see our fears about the Bat backpack confirmed sadly. It has no holes or pegs for securing the backpack onto the base of the back for the BAT figure, so it could be more stable an held in place well. So that means 100% of the weight an especially the stress load for moving/playing/removing hands/standing at rest with a full backpack are going to be 100% on those fragile thin clips that let it friction rest into the shoulders yellow slots!! So if it doesn't have a magnet inside the figure an pack that we just cant see; or if those hanger style flat hooks are not made of metal; then we all better watch out when handling that specific figure! Yikes... So better break out the figure stands for this line people. If that takes a tumble or you try to pull a hand out of the pack to swap it you better grip it right or you know where it is gonna break at!! Last edited by Cobra BAT 687; 06-27-2022 at 05:48 PM.. |

They may surprise and pull out a pinch hit but I've followed Super7 a long time and bought many of their products. They ARE improving in quality and sculpt all the time, but they seldom if ever pull out something ground breaking or innovative. I am *highly* skeptical there would be magnets.
