Catch-22.
I am fairly certain these will be Reaction, as it makes sense and yet doesn't. On one hand, Reaction figures are nice for those who are into such lines/figures, but at a higher price point and with less articulation, seems kind of moot. On the other hand, Ultimates figures would enable everyone who wants a shot at these equal playing ground unlike the CI exclusives, sans the occasional retailer exclusive of course. One can even order from BBTS and not be charged upfront, giving a buyer plenty of time to budget accordingly. However, while very cool the Ultimates are super pricey at the now $55 price point, and it takes a long time to get the items in hand. If people are complaining now about perceived slow rollout of the Classified and Retro figures now......boy howdy. |

Yup. F##k Super7 they are still sitting on $1100 plus of my money and I'm still no closer to getting my Thundercats as I was on day one of Preorders. They are absolutely the worst business I have ever delt with when it comes to taking preorders. They run it Like a damn Ponzi scheme.

Somebody said it earlier but the high price point is because of the lower quantities they manufacture. In addition to the licensing fees which was also mentioned earlier.
I believe for some of the bands and musicians and artists collaborations are around 1500 - 2000 pieces per figure. I sure hope they're not ultimates, though maybe some competition will help settle things down.

I'm almost 100% sure this is going to be ReAction since I just can't see Hasbro allowing a line that would compete against Classified. Even if they did do an Ultimates line I wouldn't get behind it. Super7 has had some awful business practices and completely mishandled Thundercats. Between qc issues and the fact that despite having everyone's money they've managed to only get one wave into collectors hands, I honestly want Super7 as far away from GI Joe as possible.

Limited production runs that aren't normally ever reprinted, so they are collectibles. Much of their business is on the nostalgia collectors market. People won't play with them, they keep in package as neat collectibles. Quote:

Super 7 is popular despite some issues folks have with them, their recent Silverhawks announcements and TMNT stuff is all kinds of mad hype. As for not competing with Hasbro, that's really up to how Hasbro sees them, other companies have no issue with Super 7 even when others are producing action figures or their own lines of toys by the licensor, reason being is Super 7 product is limited print run, higher priced, and not sold at regular stores, it's a niche product sold mainly at select geek focused outlets, while Hasbro and other toy companies are fine with this stuff as they are focusing on the world wide mass production market. The folks buying the toys at Walmart are often not the same collector buying the high priced Super 7 toy

Brian Flynn has said things in the past that make their model sound not that far from a Ponzi scheme (ie, they need to keep offering preorders on a regular basis to make sure they have cash in each license to keep it going. This came up all the time during their brief MOTUC run.)

Yeah but to me that's a little thin. I agree the same people who buy Classified might not buy into Ultimates anyway but it's still pulling sales of some kind away when Hasbro could try something higher end themselves (they never will.) Plus, if Super7 went classic with the figure styles, I could see people dropping Classified like a bad habit. Regardless of how well TMNT has done and how hype Silverhawks is, I stand by my statement: I honestly don't want Super7 to make Ultimates Joes. There's too much of a chance it could go south and I don't want anymore stupid decisions with this franchise since Hasbro has that market pretty well cornered.
Remember Hasbro is allowing similar scale action figures being made of GI Joe by Mezco, much more elaborate product. But it's a different market, it's limited collectors market, expensive figures. These collectors based toys don't compete with main line toys, and Hasbro makes that sweet licensing money without having to do much work at all. |

Simply put, they are the worst company to deal with that has access to major licenses (MOTU, Turtles, etc.). Their QC issues and the way they take preorder after preorder before delivering even a single figure makes them absolutely repellant.
