Got Wild Bill and Snake Eyes today from the fine folks at Amazon, they weren't exactly too kind with packing them in the shipping boxes. Sent them in separate boxes. My Cobra Commander and Zartan were perfect.
It's a little hard to see on Snake Eyes, I should have taken a better picture but I already sealed him up in the box to be shipped back to Amazon in the morning. I'm sorry but I'm not paying 20 dollars for damaged merchandise, and what they did to Wild Bill is just criminal. No way they happened during shipping. Not when Cobra Commander and Zartan that was also in the box with him was in perfect condition. That was done on purpose. Oh yeah, Snake Eyes was put in a box by himself that was too small and it bent the card down the middle, those are some pretty hefty cardbacks too. It bent the card so much on the backside you can see it's ripped apart in spots. I should have took a picture of that. I was rushing earlier, I thought I could make it to the UPS store before they closed. But traffic was just too bad, I forgot it is Easter this weekend. |

Okay, my friend has a hilarous sense of humor.
He bought some play dough and added an extra finger on his Wild Bill while we were cooking potluck. slightly off topic, my friend also told me there's something called Barbie Playdough this year!!??

I mean, not for nothing, but if you wanted perfect cardbacks Amazon probably isn't the best way to go. They are not looking to package things perfectly, they are looking to ship things out in the most inexpensive cost efficient manner possible. I would think that is widely known. No offense, but they aren't looking at your items as collectibles. If you wanted perfect cardbacks you probably should have ordered from Super7 or BBTS.

Amazon is for openers. I open these so they're perfect for me.

I try to spread my orders out between retailers, that way I can fully support the line. I did order the ones I wanted to keep carded from Super7, I wanted openers from Amazon but I didn't want mutilated cardbacks either. I'm not paying 20 bucks to have cardbacks in that condition, even for ones I intend to open. Dinged up corners and warped cards is one thing, but ripped cards and bent down the middle is not okay.

Now that I've had a chance to play with these guys a little, here's my Wave 3 review
Snake Eyes: Comparing this version in hand to the Wave 1 SE, they were obviously sculpted (whether digital or physical) on the same body buck, so everything I thought about that first figure stands. The arms are scrawny, and I would like if there was either more muscle definition (like he was wearing tights) or more fabric texture. As it is, it looks like he's wearing sweatpants that are too tight. It's weird that he has abs on such an otherwise soft sculpt. The sword is laughable. That said, there are improvements. The cartoon colors do this figure a real service. Even though the new sculpted details are almost 1:1 recreations of the same stuff we saw on Wave 1, the tweaks all improve. The knife and pistol w/holster on his thighs are further down on the leg and slightly smaller. This figure can kick at 90 degrees without those details hindering the range of motion. If the sculpt is going to be scrawny, the smaller details trick the body into looking bigger by comparison. The new head is very nice. If Super7 does any straight repaints of an O-ring Snake Eyes, I want them of this sculpt. I do NOT want them to resculpt V2 again, unless they find a way to improve on it. I gave Wave 1 a "C", this gets a "B". A Timber may have got it to an "A-". Cobra Commander: This figure is pretty nice. I don't think there can be too much praise for the head sculpt...THIS is my Commander! At this scale, there is no perfect way to make his coat, but this way is fine. I need a scaled-up Nemesis Enforcer to snatch this guy out of the snow. Solid "B" Zartan: I never had V1 growing up, so I was eager to test the color changing gimmick in the sun. It worked well. And after the debacle of the "yelling" Duke used by Hasbro in the Modern Era, this "Singing" Zartan is much improved. As a 3 3/4" Cold Slither Zartan, this figure is about perfect. As an action figure, it's trapped within its gimmick. "B+" Wild Bill: This guy is as good a Sunbow translation as anyone could hope for. This figure and the Wave 1 Cobra Commander show how nice Sunbow can look in 3 3/4" form. When I Google search "Wild Bill GI Joe Cartoon" images come up of Wild Bill with that exact pistol, so points there. If I'd never seen the '83 Wild Bill and you lined it and this figure side-by-side, I'd guess this was the real figure and the vintage was a knockoff (though, most of that is because I grew up on the cartoon, not the comic). If you added a removable hat and a ball-joint neck, I'd never need another O-ring Bill. "A", it would have been an "A+" if not for the card art. We've seen with several Kickstarters that it takes time for public feedback to impact a line. I feel that Super7 is getting a better hang for this line and that's with it too early to take our feedback into account. By this time a year, or a year and a half from now, we may be getting the definitive versions of some figures (heck, CoCo and WB are practically there). Bring on Wave 4...and someone list that Python BAT for sale (at retail price)!

I guess we know who the real leader of Cobra is, despite Serpentor's attempts to fill all the GI Joe pegs at Target. Even though I snipped it from the quote because I don't have any other specific remarks, I enjoyed reading the entire review you left for each figure. I especially appreciate you addressing the running criticism of Wild Bill's FC and the discussion of SE that has become old hat by this point, and I think your comments are fair-handed.
