I remember when the first images of the 6 inch Snake Eyes leaked in Feb 2020. It was an instant must buy and when it finally was available for pre-order on Pulse, I think I ordered in the first couple of minutes and was legit worried I could miss out. Turned out the pre-order actually last way longer than I thought it would.

I am equally (but pleasantly) surprised at both. Wonder what the catalyst for that change was?

The figures are fine if people are buying them, but that 18 pack makes zero sense.

It seems most likely that they are just adapting the line in response to criticism of Wave 1. The decos and the weapons have all seemed to change because of negative reaction to what Lenny now calls the "Blackout" designs, implying that the early figures were more about the video game than any kind of Classified aesthetic choice.

It could be that realistic weapons are mainly reserved for exclusive figures (although Snake Eyes might be a main line release).

In addition the toy designers don't seem to know shit about firearm anatomy or construction. Look at Flint's "shotgun". That thing would never fire because the breach seems to be located BEHIND THE ACTION. At least with the energy weapons it's easier for me to "suspend disbelief" because it's a total fantasy.

I don't think it needs to be a question of all "realistic" or "energy" weapons. I think it's great there are both in this line. Think about it. If/When "energy discharge" firearms become a reality it isn't like every soldier will be equipped with them all at once. It'll take YEARS for a full rollout and firearm manufacturing will be dramatically changed. There also may be spec ops fighters that want traditional projectile weapons. I love the fact that the energy weapons we have gotten mimic traditional projectile weapons aesthetic. It's cool as shit.

Plus the energy weapons are cool. Duke's is effectively an direct energy M4 rifle. Can't tell me that isn't badass. |
